Your first stone pillar will be in direct contact with ground this way and will start out blue instead of green.
You might also need to use wood iron beams (depending on how high you want to build) as supports for your stone constructions.
This changes the aesthetic however. I don't want to build on earth (hence the building on rock and stone pillars). The hoe gives me an idea though which may make it easier to place the pillars. Definitely need to experiment with wood iron.
You can raise the earthen pillar as a plinth and then hide it with stone blocks for aesthetic purposes (this also lets you build higher since you can raise the earthen pillar up by 8 meters from the starting level of the terrain and build farther up from there).
If you want to make sure that your bases are completely raid proof you have to use combinations of dry/wet moats and earthen walls to stop ground based raids and eliminate windows and chimneys (you can dissipate smoke by building one story higher then any living quarters are located) or substitute iron grates and crystal from golems to prevent aerial raids.

Edit: you can also keep your builds safe from raid damage by turning off raids in the world settings section.
Every good sized mountain I have been on has multiple buildings that are hanging off the side but at least safe from instant destruction. Go find one of those, draugr ones are good if you can find them, or maybe one by a nice frost cave. Incorporating your base into a frost cave entrance is good fun. I am not sure why you are putting layers of the same piece over itself, it wont help anything when, not if, your rock base is destroyed.
There are so many cool things you could do up there, even taking over an old skele ruin, which usually sits in a place with a great view, but building a base with no foundation on the golem freeway in this game is problematic...
yeah i didnt realize there were so many golems up here LOL. last time i played i actually ended up quitting at the mountains for one reason or another before i did much up there. as a matter of fact a golem got horrifyingly close to my gate and hit the front of my base once or twice. luckily only some part of the rock got destroyed but the base itself was miraculously left intact XD
still I like the thrill of being attacked by golems who want revenge on my using their kin as scaffolding. i'll probably just end up getting a mod to reduce golem damage to my structures rather than relocating. but i do love being up there and it has a great view.
