Hosting a server and mods
Hey I am not new to hosting a dedicated server using gportal, but was wondering if the servers can be modded? Anyone have any experience with this?

Also am looking for ideas on mods that would be fun to add. I am still looking but youtube seems to have a few random ones that are awkward. One I saw that looked good was speedy paths. Was also going to look for a mod that drops random weapons / magic weapons/armor etc. Any ideas that doesn't really destroy the feel of the game but adds cool things would be great!

Yes servers can be modded.
On gportal Basic settings tab, all the way on the bottom you will find Valheim mods. Chose Bepinex and server will create all the folders you will need to upload mods.

Download mods manually or using mod manager on your PC and start the game in order to create config files. Once config files are created, you will be able to tweak mods (if needed).
Now when you have all plugins and configs ready, you can upload them on the server.
For uploading mods you will need an app to connect directly to the server and browse server files. I use WinSCP. All the data you need to connect to the server can be found on gPortal - status tab.
When you finally connect and see server files, just drag and drop mods plugins and configs to their folders on the server.
Disconnect and restart the server.
And you are ready to go.

As for the mods, go to Thunderstore or Nexus mods and see which mods are the most popular. But be careful, adding a lot of mods to the game will break the balance and you will spend a lot of time tweaking configs to bring it back.

I second Veseljko's comment about too many mods disrupting the game. I use about 30 I seriously doubt it'll ever go much higher as keeping track of them and what does what is almost a game in itself!

Learn how to make a ModPak for your players it is an invaluable resource.

You don’t need modpacks if you use mod
manager.
You can share your profile code with others and when they are making a profile on mod manager, by using the code they will get the same mods and configs as you.
