As with all other things, while holding the building hammer, middle-mouse click while mousing over something to deconstruct it.
false. they are so you can store stacks of wood or stone on the floor and dont need chests or workbenches to do so when you gather these resources in large amounts so they dont despawn overtime and you can leave them there. they arent purely for cosmetics.
I also noticed if I destroy the pile of wood, I do get a few back but I somehow doubt its the whole 50 I get back.
So now I get it. :-)
THEY ARE PURELY COSMETIC.
A stack of wood on the floor takes up more space than a chest and can only hold 1/8th as much wood. There is absolutely zero reason to ever put build stacks of wood/stone instead of putting them in a chest, EXCEPT for cosmetic reasons. They are a purely cosmetic build item.
Uhm, no? As a builder i use carts and stacks. Cart is a moveable chest and when reassembling a building or removing a scaffolding it is faster to build a stack out of excess material than going to the chests or trying to squeeze my cart inside a cramped space. Also you don't to remove all of this random chests afterwards
Go argue with your parents.
