Then again, it's like $12 right now... ridiculously cheap. What are you going to save waiting for a better sale, a few bucks? I WANT to say don't buy it, but at that price it's hard to argue with.
You start with a torch that can be used as a club as long in main hand. So, yes, you do start with a weapon and a pretty good one too, because it also apply fire damage.
Sliders now let you change the resource gathering(up to x 3), difficulty sliders(higher or lower), you can set portals to allow transport of any thing(except animals) including metal/ore and you can also set to not use resources when building (still need for armor/weapons).
So now the difficulty just really depends on your settings choices.
