New update = Mad stutters?
Ello, I just wanted to hear if anybody else has had an increase in lag / stutters since the new update ? I mean there was always some before, as my computer is starting to turn ancient, but even by lowering the graphics enough to run a place between 30 - 60 fps, I still have the worste stutters ever!
Now I am just curious if I am the only one experiencing this, if not, then I posted this as a sort of a "Ticket" so the devs might catch it, I know I know.. "Never play on patch day" I hear ya x'D

i tried to lower down the res , even 1% resolution. and turn off everything.
it only increase the maximum fps, but the stutter still exist
i thought my laptop is gaslighting me again.

I have the opposite. the game has never run better for me. no little lags around my base....so far

Me too! took me a moment to realise the silly sound I was getting linked to Lag issues the net code must be borked (even more than it was)

Not so much stuttering but my laptop fan kicks in a heck of a lot now despite the temperatures being low. Reducing graphic settings does not seem to help.

Prior to this update their were no such issues.

I have also actually noticed my fans turning on more than ever, I just took my pc bein old being the problem, but if more starts experiencing it too, maybe it needs a seperate ticket, for now, good to know I am not the only one, thx for the input people, solved my curiousity ! <3

I call what I've been experiencing "lurching", not stuttering or lagging, since it seems to describe the behavior much better. I've been suffering lurching for weeks, however, long before yesterday and the .28 patch. I've been convinced that it was mods to blame, that the bottleneck is the CPU, or possibly storage or RAM I/O. I've been disabling any mods that I anticipate could have continuously active non-conditional code loops, since it happens during movement and combat. It's also virtually non-existent when I first start a game session, but progresses and after an hour or so it's pretty noticeable. Restarting the game seems to restart whatever naughty timer is controlling the progression. I can no longer play for several hours straight.

Does the stuttering happen in your base only? If it happens there only, it's probably a vanilla issue. I suggest removing mods, as some mods have been related to stuttering lately, and re-install your graphic drivers (choose custom installation and then put a checkmark on perform clean installation). Also, if stuttering happens everywhere, make sure to monitor your CPU and GPU temps, as generally that's the most common cause for stuttering.

I have no mods installed and my graphics drivers had no issue, untill the latest update that is, if anything it ran almost flawless, after the update I have tried updating my windows, graphics yadayadayada all the basics and unfortunately the problem persist, I am seeing new threads appearing as well, so I think its a Valheim issue somewhere ^^

Yeah, I also just to make sure, went the extra mile, I installed an extra fan, cleaned my PCU and other fans of dust, made sure everything was updated and it still stutters, less so but still very noticable, less noticable away from camps/villages, but it still happens. Only thing I found that slightly reduces is, is the new render option, sliding it down from "Native" to "automatic" gave me a little less stutters as well, but I am out of ideas at this time, I have 40 - 60 fps now, so cant complain about the extra 10 fps on average x'D ^^

The load on my CPU's are "only" about 50 - 60% and temps peak at 70* but rarely stays there for long, not that it has been a problem before ^^

@MaCarBre

vanila, no mods, the day before update was ok. right after update. the out of control stutter happen
inside base, outside the base, on the open empty space on meadow, its the same. maybe less stutter, but still stutter, happen often after registering an action (attack, build, cut tree, etc)

i havent check the audio glitch that many has reported. i played on mute. guess gonna check on that if the stutter related to that audio issue.

+2 (Myself and my GF) for this issue. Lags badly in base (always has, we have a lot of buildings) but seems worse now since it seems like it keeps recalculating shelter over and over. I have an 'open concept' building that randomly changes its sheltered spots every few seconds despite having PLENTY of roof cover all over.

Vanilla, no mods, I host a server game that my GF joins.

The stuttering is completely new to this most recent update though. Slowly gets worse and worse regardless of where in the world you are. Music/sound cutting out for these stutters is one of the most noticeable tells.

My CPU never seems to peak passed 35% ever (AMD 3900x) and my GPU (RTX 3080) only ever gets 50% at random times.
