Multiplayer: What happens if you disconnect on a moving boat and then reconnect? 🤔
^ title. Do you spawn in the middle of the ocean or something? I mean I gotta ask since me and my friends are about to hit Christopher Columbus age soon, and I have unstable internet connection. I might end up DC'ing in the middle of a boat trip and end up dying.

You spawn in the middle of the ocean if someone else was driving that boat. I frankly fell from the boat multiple times when my host friend had a bad connection, but sitting or holding the mast is your saviour.

You don't just die from being in the ocean though. You only lose stamina when actively swimming, so people can come back and pick you up.

When you are the only one in the ship, it will immediately come to a stop when you are leaving it. Not only useful for disconnects, but also great for parking.

Yes, you come back in the ocean and drown. If you're the one sailing the boat when disconnecting it will go on without you. Stick near the shores and always carry materials for a portal, if the network drops a lot I'd consider adjusting the stamina cost for movement.

If you are playing on a hosted server that doesn't always happen. The server continues to run until it detects your disconnection which isn't always instantly. Player saves and world save are separate so your boat can continue to travel without you actually being in it because the server calculates that you are but your computer keeps running. I've had to swim several meters to reach my boat sailing solo on a hosted server after a disconnect and reconnection.
Hi guys, thank you for the response! I appreciate it 😀So the bottom line is that I'm probably dead if I DC in the middle of a boat trip unless they park the boat and wait for me to RC, lol. I guess I could just stay at home do chores and wait for them to portal me when they dock.. 🤔Really sucks.

Since this was a disconnect, and not part of the game mechanics I think it would be fair for you to consider world hopping to replenish your stamina, if you have a world with stamina potions you might consider grabbing a stack. You can then swim towards shore, take a stamina potion... swim some more till you are almost out of stamina. Log off, re-log on another world... wait for stamina to replenish... repeat.

Assuming there are no sea monsters and you have stamina potions. You can swim for as long as you have potions by just sitting there in the open water waiting for the potion cooldown. You can stretch the potions out too with healing potions or food regeneration. Frankly, playing the game boatless is more than doable. Not exactly easy. And the swimming skill levels up so slowly it isn't funny. But it is doable.

Or use "setkey MoveStaminaRate 0" and swim home.

Or just "fly", get back onto the boat and then disable it again

Besides, a lot of the suggestions just won't work in your given environment. Some require cheats/console commands being enabled despite you playing on a server (presumably not your own server as you got dc'd from it). Some involve hindsight. Carrying items beforehand that allow you to swim near indefinitely. Something you can't go back to get once you're in the water.

The only suggestions that do work under any circumstances are logging into another world to recover stamina. Or have a friend pick you up. But both are painfully slow though.

It's just a player hosted server, not paid hosting. It's my friend's world. But yeah everything seems painfully slow and I don't have access to stamina pots yet (we plan to just build the Karve first since we're just post Eiktyr stage, so no need for pots), and let's say that I do die while on a trip, perhaps I'll just ask my friends to pick up my stuff lol.

I mean, we'll think of something, but at least we know.
