Mistlands......... omg help
I have fully upgraded padded armor, frost hammer and black metal sword. And I got wtf swarmed and pwned inside my first dungeon. Any suggestions for gear in the Mistlands before I change over to magic ? Would a polearm work better ? Piece resistant chest piece ? Napalm ............ ?

Root harnesk would be good of you're struggling with ticks and normal seekers. Atgeir would serve useful in situations where you're being swarmed by ticks and seekers, pretty sure a blackmetal atgeir alt attack one shots normal and one starred ticks, and potentially 2 star ones, as they're weak to pierce. Seeker soldiers are best to parry with a shield and attack their abdomen as it's their weakpoint, just make sure they're alone before you fight them.

I'd say focus on killing ticks first, since if they catch onto you when swarmed and out of stamina, you're going to die in 9/10 scenarios. Kite the other enemies whilst focusing on ticks. You can also use stairs if there's any to filter ticks and normal seekers are soldiers are too big to fit through.

Make sure you clear the room, and any connected ones for enemies that might wander in to ambush you before you open any doors or destroy overgrown roots. It will help you from getting swarmed.

Also when there is a tick on you and you're panicking, remember; if it's on your front, hit it, and if it's on your back, roll to get it off. Dodging when there's a tick on your front might accidentally block their attack, and if you're too low on stamina or health, might stagger you and kill you, happened to me quite a number of times.

Good advice above. Ooze bombs are great for mines, killing enemies behind doors, especially ticks. TLDR: best food, ooze bombs, root harnesk, AOE weapon (polearm), frost arrows. Low and slow, clear everything behind you before you move on.

I have an extreme aversion to ticks. They gave my dog lyme disease and almost killed her, and then I started finding bloated females in the carpet at home identical to how they're portrayed in the game. Barf barf barf. Bad memories !!!

I use Frost arrows and ooze bombs whenever possible. When exploring Mistlands I also make sure I have some fire resistance potions on hand.

I also share your aversion to ticks. The giant cockroaches don't appeal to me either.

What were you swarmed by? You do need some sort of AOE type weapon to deal with ticks, and you have to be fast with it if you don't have the root chest piece on. A 2* tick will kill you very fast.

I generally use atgier, but I'm going to try the iron sledge this time.

Go slow and use bonemass power. Sometimes, depending on my gear, I will only go through mines with bonemass enabled. When it wears off I go back out and wait for it to regen. That's what I did when I was wearing Fenris armor and fighting with a knife.

I as in a dungeon and got swarmed by 1's and 2's while simultaneously fighting seekers. The iron sledge is good for the ticks but damn there were so many of them; they got on my back and tbh I've never learned how to dodge roll in this game, always relying on my shield.

The sledge or stagbreaker are still good for things behind closed doors. Even the atgier's spin can help for that but doesn't have as much range.

In many of the mines I've been to there has been a hole in the floor close to the entrance. Sometimes you can aim arrows down there. Ooze bombs and fire bombs are great for this too. It can take time to whittle down a soldier this way, but better that than going toe to toe.

Soldiers are big enough that sometimes you can get them stuck or blocked. The seekers have no problem getting up stairs, but the soldiers can't manage it. They also can't get inside those small hidden rooms. If possible look for a way to get them terrain locked.

Baby seekers go down easily with the atgier, or ooze bombs or any AOE. I know they're not a big threat, but if you also have ticks and other things at the same time it adds up.

Don't stand and tank if possible. if something has aggro, back up and fight it in a previous cleared room to lower the chances of having others join in. Also makes it easier to recover your corpse if it comes to that.

There are no spawner piles in the infested mines. If you see a whole lot of seekers, it's because there's a huge room, or several connected rooms in front of you. Don't storm ahead trying to find the spawner. Be patient and try to clear them a little at a time. (I did this once when I thought the numbers were too high for there not to be a spawner. And of course dying after charging in makes it nearly impossible to get your corpse back. I ghosted around to check and nope, no spawners, just a giant cavern below me.)

It might take more than one try to clear the entrance. If in doubt, back out, heal up get rested. Having a fire or portal out there helps. If the seekers get into the entrance they might even kick you out, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Slow and steady, one bug at a time. (Now if someone would tell the bugs that.)

I much prefer going toe-to-toe. I once had three soldiers in an upper room with the spiral staircase leading up. I tried several times to get up there, but they always knocked me off when I got to the top. Probably a good thing, since 3 at once is probably a bit much, but it took forever to take them out with a bow. I think I even had to go back to camp for some more arrows.

Another time I had a 2* seeker and a 2* soldier blocking the entrance. I don't know how many times I got flung back out the front door! It's really annoying when you get a parry against a 2* soldier and end up outside and unable to capitalize.

I figured out how to stand at an angle to the entrance when parrying so I just got knocked into the corner and was able to come back in for a hit. Unfortunately, one or both would generally then get an unblocked hit in, and I'd have to go outside to lick my wounds.

Getting into my first dungeon was ez. As it happened I was at a dwarf building 50 yards away, and from the top of that I was able to snipe all the roaches at the entrance with frost arrows. It lulled me into a false sense of security.................... "This isn't so hard" I thought.

I'm going to try that as soon as I can, but I just spent a ton of iron on the iron sledge! I also spent all my "egg" money on it.

Of course, that requires the black forge, so it could take a while to make.

If you can hit through walls, is good.

If you can hit the enemy with out them able to hit you, Is good.

If you can hit enemies behind you, is good

If you can stagger the enemy in one hit, is good.

If you can stagger a 1or 2* in 1 or 2 hit, is good.

Demolisher is good.

Frostner works okay on a single seeker, and even a pair of seekers, but two 1* and a normal seeker all at once required the iron sledge. I've used the iron sledge before, but I was still surprised how well it worked against the starred seekers. Now I'm more interested in trying the demolisher.

  1. If enemies are behind vine or wooden doors use ooze bombs
  2. If enemies are behind dvergr gates use iron sledge or demolisher
  3. If mobbed by ticks use atgeir secondary
