Any good ways to clear tar pits early. we are in iron age.

Is there any method other than killing the tar blobs and digging a canal to drain it?

Kill the blobs with a bow, set up a workbench so they don't respawn (use your anti poison potion). Dig a deep tench to empty the pit out.

That's what I do.

Tar pits sometimes are near Fuling camps. Put on fast armor with Eikthyr blessing and run through the Fuling camp and draw them to the tar pit. They'll clear it out and then you can do the drain-and-workbench tactic to get the tar and keep the growths from re-spawning.

You can also use the hoe to raise the ground of the tar pits. It’s not as fun as digging a giant trench, but it’s aesthetically pleasing, at least.

Any items will raise up with the ground.

To be honest I don't know the real life attributes of tar but I thought tar was flammable. Would be bloody awesome to flame up the tar pools

A friend tried this, and the tar blobules you can typically pick did not raise with the bit, only items previously stuck in the tar. Do this and you're missing out on a ton of tar.

You can raise dirt on tar pits which is a worse method than just digging.... but that's what I did the first time I encountered them.

Yeah just tried that and its a hit an miss, some stuck blobs did raise... but sometimes not enough to be clickable from under ground. Seemed like leveling tool was better than raising it with stone for this too. There could be technique involved so i'd not count the method out yet but yeah, im gonna keep to digging.
