2. If you are fishing for troll fish make sure that there are troll fish present. The easiest way to do this is to fish from a boat and look into the water.
3. Perch and Pike can spawn in the Black Forest. If that is all that is present they won't bite on troll fish bait.
If you are interested in just getting fish the easiest thing to do is build a fish trap and wait for the water to flow over and recede.

There were actually tons of troll fish jumping around and bouncing off the bait, but they wouldn't go for it. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to 'jig' them like mackerel irl or just throw it out there and wait patiently. Not sure what the 'hit' rate is. I certainly have a little better luck in the meadows biome, for sure. Perhaps fishing skill increases the odds ?
Watching for a bite and hauiling in the line in to make strike is 40% of the battle, the other 60% is stamina management which potions are your friend as it knowing when NOT to pull but drag the begger onto the Land/Boat!
