Any way to share world?
We play together with my friend, I'm hosting. But my computer is pretty old and sometimes it crashes the game. I was wondering if there's any way to transfer the world so he can host. In case my game goes down I can just rejoin.

Thanks.

Does that save anything? Like buildings or boss progress?

Nope
Yes. You can transfer the world data files to your friend, Have a look at C:\User\"Your User Name"\Appdata\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds_local. Now you just have to transfer your world files to your friend.
If you use the Steam Cloud to save your games, my best guess is to disable that way of saving your world files and then saving them locally (be careful with my Steam Cloud advise here as i avoid saving my games in the Steam Cloud like the plague from ancient times - so i have no plan whatsoever with that Steam Cloud nonsense....).

Next time don't just wonder around and just search[duckduckgo.com]... (btw. I just typed "valheim copy world" the "from friend" was a suggestion)

Valheim world save locations.
(OLD: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds ) NEW: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds_local CLOUD: ...\Steam\userdata\<YourSteamUserID?>\892970\remote\worlds
You decide in-game where a world is stored/saved.
https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorageapp/?appid=892970

Current: <YourWorldName>.db/.fwl
Last: <YourWorldName>.db/.fwl.old
???: <YourWorldName>_backup_<ISO-Date>-<ISO-Time?>.db/.fwl
BackupX: <YourWorldName>_backup_auto-<ISO-DateTime>.db/.fwl (.fch for characters)
With 0<X<=4 - The default max.=4 can be changed in VH's Misc menu.

Just copy the relevant world files, 7zip them and send them to your friend.

Friend can then unpack them in "NEW:" (I recommend against using the Steam cloud) and use them directly.
If that doesn't work: 1. Friend create world with same name. 2. Switch to locals save. 3. Overwrite said save with your backup (while VH isn't running).

Nothing. The world seed is just that. The seed used by VH's world generation algorithm. -> Even with the same Seed you'd get a different world today compared to ~a year ago.

You even get a (very) slightly different world if you use the same seed code twice nowadays - Trees, rocks, the layout of the land and the sea shore and some other features can move around a little bit or look a bit different due to their arrangement. (And no, i dont want to be super-clever here; this is just an additional explanation.)

Why do you avoid Steam cloud if you don't mind the question?

It causes some trouble on the PC?

Not sure if anyone needs to see this but if you started your world as a cloud save you need to go in-game and click 'manage saves', pick the one you're looking for, then click 'move to local'. The file location mentioned in the thread is correct. But the world won't be there if you started it as a cloud save. I copied it to another location and went back to the game and converted it back to a cloud save. Everything is good and my friend can start the server for us.
Steam cloud is notorious for losing saves in general and has been a specific bane to Valheim since day zero. There have been multiple updates with patches trying to lock it down.

Unless you *need* the functionality just turn it off and manage your own backups.

That's true of all games you access through steam. 99% of the time you are better off turning off the steam cloud and keeping your game data on your hard drive.
And since we're here, daily reminder that Steam has a page for downloading your cloud files which is very helpful when turning it off. steam://openurl/https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorage
