what is the point in making a mistwalker sword
i have a sword level of 83 and when start upgrading i will need a sword. But when i look at the mistwalker base stats i see 75 slash and 40 frost and for reference the base stats of the silver sword has 75 slash and 30 frost which is only a 10 point improvement frost. Right now i can only upgrade the sword once making it worse than a swords from 2 gens ago. is there something i am missing.

yes. there is something youre missing entirely.

the silver sword does spirit dmg. not frost. the mistwalker does frost slash AND small amount of spirit dmg. it does alot more dmg overall.

and the mistwalker also disperses the mist around it passively even when not drawn.

unfortunately upgrading armor and weapons in this game is VERY unsatisfying.. most armor and weapons if you max to T4 the next gen is literally just marginally better. In order to make these jumps feel better my friends and I only go to T2 on our gear.. that way when we get to the next set it actually feels rewarding. This game does not really respect your time in regards to material costs to upgrade gear. It's fluff grind disguised as content.

Very true. The quasi lateral move when getting to a new tier is a bit frustrating.

I like to think of it as "well if I die and lose my silver armor I have my fully upgraded iron as a spare to get it back".

Right having a backup set that is almost as good as your current set is not a terrible thing.

Even without looking at damage numbers the Mistwalker is leaps and bounds better than silver for the CC ability of the frost. Similar to why Frostner is usable for so long.
