Totally agree with the stumbling through an ant nest without being able to see 20 feet in front of you bit. I hate games that try to conceal everything from view.
Again RNG can be a B, but even over a few playthroughs it's clear that mine density is low and they are easy to miss.
I feel like it's a dead horse at this point, but yeah mistland tried to do too much and it ends up being completely unbalanced.
If you can't deal with the mist, you're gonna have a bad time at the boss anyway.
The difference between "unlocking" mistlands boss and other is that the items that you use to "unlock" other bosses are also their summoning-sacrifice items, but that isn't the case in mistlands. But players have always been reporting these kinda issues with Moder or Yagluth too. It's nothing new or unexpected really, just progression that is continuing through each biome.
Recommend everyone to actually complete the biome, preferably on multiple worlds, before drawing final conclusions.
It really does seem like RNG unluck. I usually struggle the most with boss stones of all things haha.
If you have boss uncovered, just go there and run around a bit, there should be plenty mines. If you put some effort in efficiency in it should not take long to find the rest of them. Or if the group does not want to play, just spawn them and have everyone do the boss.
