Why won"t my eggs hatch?
Help ! I have 2 eggs in a roofed chicken coop with an enclosed fire. Eggs show as warm but have not hatched in days? What's wrong?

"In days" is meaningless, it takes 30min for an egg to hatch doesnt matter how many game days.

and 1 ingame day in valheim is 21 minutes of daytime and 9 minutes of nighttime. so if he said many ingame days that timer has long sailed ship. if you sleep trough the night the hatch timer is speed up by these 9 minutes aswell.

as for the tc : is there any other tames nearby?

It is possible op reset the timer by simply picking them up. The timer would then reset back to another day.

Hello,
I am no expert but try to drop the eggs one by one, not as stacks of two or more.

Also there is probably a limit to how many chickens/hens can be nearby.
If there are too many then eggs might not hatch until the number of live chickens/hens in the area is reduced or moved somewhere.

Edit:
I forgot to mention, make sure the game actually consider the eggs as sheltered. If you would stand where the egg is laying you should get the "Sheltered" status effect on your screen (along with the "Fire" status).

They take a while to hatch. The guy that said it takes 30min is wrong. My eggs took almost 5 ingame days to hatch. Just make sure they got enough space to actually hatch. They need at least 2meters or one wall of space between the floor and the ceiling. You can speed up the hatching progress by sleeping. Just make sure that they're warm, don't touch them and be patient. They'll eventually hatch. They don't need to be sheltered. I had my eggs out in the open and they hatch just fine. They just need to have a roof and fire.

I also thought it was short but 30min is what's on the wiki.

laying and hatching only happens in active area. Sleeping or time passing when you are far from the area does not progress this. Chicks growing into hens will happen if you sleep / go away. 30 minutes must be uninterrupted. If the fire goes out, if you pick one up, if you are remodeling and they briefly lose shelter - 30 minute timer must restart. An egg can be only "warm" or "too cold". Keep them warm for 30 minutes of someone being in the active area.

Mine all hatched, after a few IG days too, stayed in active area as I was building a shelter close by, but when I went back they were just feathers... Is there something I did wrong... It was an expensive mistake... 4500g for 13 feathers...

was the fire not protected? chickens are masters of self immolation if you left the fireplace unprotected for them to wak right into it. use a hanging brazier.

also dont buy eggs. you only need 2 eggs to get endless amounts.

and you can get 2 eggs for free in each sealed tower from hildirs quest.

Never tried with fire, I just throw them 1 by 1 in a sheltered hottub. no risk of burning, the chicks float on top of the water
