Epic loot mod
Hi. I want to use epic loot mod on my server. Casual server for friends only with unrestricted portals and X2 drop and like 9 other mods.i need help with balancing the game , because as I remember epic loot doesn't add harder enemies. Any suggestions? I'm wondering to just add hard mode in the world modifiers but that seems to not be the best idea as long as not all our players are on the same "game skill" level. So some cind of a mod to add occasional star monsters would be preferred

Try playing without a mod and really finishing the game, there you will see how the game is not easy and has real potential.

You don't need this. The current game now supports up to 3x loot drops and portal any item right in the world setup dialog. You can also adjust enemy difficulty, and another setting has base raids tied to individual progress for who is at the location instead of world progress (max thing done).

-> Starred mob increase may require a mod still. but the other stuff is in there.

100% agree with you well said.

I get the sense y'all don't know what Epic Loot does. It adds unique abilities to gear for more varied progression, not just bigger numbers.

Smoothbrain's CreatureLevelAndLootControl is the usual go-to for amping up creatures to counter modded gear. There's also Therzie's Monstrum or MonsterLabZ for a wider range of beasties.

In my opinion the game is still easier with epic loot, unless it's tuned down to the points the perks you get are very minor. Some of the "varied progression" can get fairly ridiculous. You can move around like Valheim was quake, you can bypass almost the entire game progression with a free build hammer, the slow effect on melee levels lowers the skill floor and ceiling of melee combat a lot, etc.

What difference does it make if modded enemies hit harder, as long as the movement buffs allow you to disengage on your own terms and hail down triple shot arrows or throw+recall weapons on your targets?

The epic loot playstyle is fun in its own right, but I've got the impression it tends to make the game a lot easier as well - unless you make the enemies one-shot you and extremely hard to kill, which leads to an unappealing gameplay.

It's irrelevant what you think. OP said what he wants to play and he's adding suggestions. People like who you for some weird reason try to gatekeep and say ''base game has all that!! best game'' and gives off those type of vibes.

Instead of telling OP what's difficult or what he should or shouldn't do.. either just give an answer to his actual question or don't.

What crawled up your butt? I'm neither gatekeeping here, nor am I telling OP what to do. I merely share my experience as a player who has enjoyed Valheim both with and without epic loot with regard to balance, which strikes me as spot on for the topic.

Yeah Epic does absolutely overpower the players compared to vanilla and needs monster mods to balance that, it's not equivalent to the new easy mode combat sliders is all.

Hmm. Easy mode sliders plus wildly overpowered monster mods could be fun times.

I would ask the Nexus community for mods/settings. Most people around here are already satisfied playing the unfinished base game.
I did an EpicLoot playthrough once with a friend and tbh, you can't make it difficult enough. I set the enemies to 12x health and 8x damage and it was still a piece of cake with epic/legendary equip.

Epic Loot is a amazing mod. Can't play Valheim without anymore. The vanilla game is too... bland. This mod should be official part of the game.

But, to your question: use RRRCore with RRRBetterRaids and RRRMonsters. You can set up to 10 stars for monsters, make them grow big as many as stars they have... oh, and add elemental properties to them too. Imagine, a 10 star Deathmoskito with poison, twice the size of a Troll?

Have fun!

Yeah having a horizontal progression of new passive abilities is far more powerful than numbers-go-up. You need monsters with new powers too.

will say with the way resistances work

they give a base 50%resistance before armor which can bring it to 75% (ever used bonemass' power?)

Yup, then add boosted movement speed with an air dash, lifesteal and a paralyse effect on hit... Monsters need their own nonsense to throw back against that. It's like Diablo new game plus modes.
