Tips on stone golem farming?
at it again to farm stone golems for the trophy

I had 3 big mountains connected with portals and marked 5-10 golem locations on each. Golems will always spawn at the same location so make sure to mark them.

As for weapons, I used porcupine, but iron mace will work too. Parry + heavy attack (MMB) and he is down in 3 hits.
What you can also do is to sneak to them and open the fight with middle mouse button. In most cases it will count as sneak attack and deal a lot of dmg.
My record hit was 604 with fully upgraded porcupine and clubs skill lvl 75.
Forget pickaxes, mace + round shield work so much better.

Aside from finding the things, I strangely recommend the pickaxe for a weapon. Only enemy I know of with a weakness to pickaxes.

I noticed that they always respawn around the place where they sleep, just like abominations.

That's a really silly recommendation. You should be recommending the Bronze or Iron Mace.

1) Pickaxes deal LESS damage than Maces:
Iron Pickaxe = 33 damage
Bronze Mace = 35 damage

2) Pickaxe-type weapons attack slower than maces, and maces also have a 3-attack combo which speeds up the follow-up attacks even more:
Iron Pickaxe = 1.4 s
Bronze Mace = 1.14s + 0.44s + 0.88s

3) Pickaxes are two-handed, so you can't use Shield, and you can't Parry the Stone Golem for double damage.

4) Finally, yes they are weak to Pickaxe damage. But as you may know, Pickaxe damage type is reduced by 1/3 by default - unless you are standing on top of the rock you are mining - which also applies to Stone Golems.
In other words, your damage number will just show up Yellow, but the number will be around the listed damage on your Pickaxe, not twice as much like you expect from a "weakness" effect.

Mace wins by default. PS: And I'm not even talking about the secondary attack of maces :)

If you've gone past that Biome in general and are just farming the trophey try the Himminafl the lightning damage seems to stun them if you get it right, despite the Resistance to Pierce.

If not at that point. Biggest blunt weapon you got UNLESS you can jump on the thing in which case the downward stroke of the pickaxe is your friend.

I have 3 wooden chests loaded with crystal from golems and 5 trophies for all of that. With a 5% drop rate and about 9 crystals per golem that actually seems to work out correctly so you will just have to be patient with the rng.

Harpoon>Harpoon Golem>Drag Golem down steep Cliff>Climb back up steep cliff>Golem can't get back up Steep Cliff>Use Arbalest/Bow/Staff of Embers for target practice>Profit.

Disclaimer: you may have to go down the cliff to retrieve trophy if it does actually drop one.
Getting the timing on a parry block for a golem is difficult especially if your reflexes are bad.

Golems are either right or left handed (after you have fought enough of them you'll be able to tell by looking at them instead of waiting for their first swing). Roll/dodge toward the attack hand and get behind them. You can get in 3 solid swings with your mace before they can turn around to get you on the side they are handed on.

Bonemass forsaken power makes it easy.

To clarify I am asking for tips on finding them more than anything else (I am also just branched off into the plains after killing modor)

Golems are not too common and don't re spawn quickly like trolls. Best thing to do is look for large/tall mountain areas , set up portals and camps there and just keep checking back. GL

Golem spawn points tend to be near silver veins and abandoned cabins. Do something noisy (like chopping trees or mining rocks) when in those areas and the golems will find you. Once you have found a location that can spawn a golem mark it on your map so that you can go back to it when its timer resets and it can respawn.

I read somewhere to dig a deep pit to trap them in. I tried it today and it works beautifully. They cannot hurt you while you are in the pit, wait for them to walk to the edge of the pit, dig to make them fall in, then jump out. They will be trapped so you can mine silver.

If its getting a bit monotonous, keep in mind golems are solid so you can jump on their head and use mining pick to crit them, if you want to make things a bit more interesting while farming.
