The armour pieces or skull fragments are more similar to a copper node and defo suffer from this "Levitation Problem" still
Probably because you're trying to mine it with either the antler or bronze pick. You need iron or better to mine a silver vein.

Clearly I had the right pickaxe. Of course, I also haven't played since mistlands came out, and just recently started over, so I don't know if that's been changed. I have to reach silver again to find out. Have alot of iron and one boss to go.
Hadn't thought of that. Maybe next playthrough ;)
Silver veins do this by luck sometimes.
Only difference is that for some reason the hitbox of a silver vein where it "connects" to its surrounding seems to be larger as that of copper.
But it's still fun to stand on top of a vein, do that one hit and see it all come down in a rain of ores and stone.
