Greylings
God, I hate these guys, forgive me, my lord, but I wish i could hang each one of them and brutally murder their entire familys right in front of them.
Forget the new update with the new biome, I want a AI update, I want them to realize is pointless to bother me, they will achieve nothing, they just keep coming so they can die, even on the end game they are a pain in my ass.
My pain is constant and sharp and I do not hope for a better world for anyone, in fact I want my pain to be inflicted on the greylings. I want no one to escape, but even after admitting this there is no catharsis, my punishment continues to elude me and I gain no deeper knowledge of myself; no new knowledge can be extracted from my telling. This confession has meant nothing

You can also trap a few creatures in a non-kill pit to prevent further spawning in that area. Noisy, though. Much later you gain access to active automated defenses.

Greylings are afraid of fire and will flee from it. (A campfire and even torches will work). Bring a tamed wolf or 2 along with you. They will take care of the problem. Bring an aetgir along with you and when a large number have gathered use the special attack (middle mouse button) to wipe them all out.

I like to call the greylings and greydwarfs "the children of the forest". Regardless, it pisses me off when a greyling destroys my crops, beehives or carts then proceeds to give that nasty little laugh. Sometimes I even get called an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Anyways, I tend to welcome them because they give supplies at the cost of minimal effort.

They are free wood and sap delivered right to your location

Greylings were cursed for their evils in life. They were condemned to spend an eternity in Valheim, tortured and killed over and over by heroes of lore. You are the vehicle of their torture. You are the pain of their souls. You are Odin's wrath delivered until their unliving flesh. Carry on.

They make good polearm practice. Also infinite building materials and sap. Oh, so much sap.

If bugging you at your base: Check your player base borders for gaps (use a work bench, the building radius is a good visual indicator of what the player base limits are). They can still spawn outside of it and will come in though so you'' need walls, or moats around your target perimeter to have them fall into. They will attack many structures out of spite, including walls, but rarely do they attack walls unless they see you, and stake walls are taller, stronger, and less see-you-able. A moat is also a two-fer, deep enough moat and they get stuck and just being there helps prevent additional spawns (like only so many hostile creatures typically load at a time, if they are all in the moat, less will show up).

If bugging you in the wild: Tame a wolf or two, they eat right through the little guys. Or carry some resin and plop torches around your mining area. Greylings will run off.

If its all just a tedious mess... enable devcommands debugmode and spam your k button. Greylings being a pest is somewhat intentional i think to keep people planning, or moving, but yeah it gets old.

Graydwarfs when building a second story. . .the number of times I've randomly been smacked with a rock. . .

I do wish there was AI in place that made them less likely to bother you after a certain point. I don't need more resin thank you very much. And Skeletons roaming the meadows after a certain point? Who needs that many bone fragments?!

In my opinion..........

The devs want this reaction. It is what makes the game. Its annoying yeah.... when you have time go ahead and make a list of the annoying things that make this game so good. It is long.

The next update you can turn that off. You wont be playing the devs amazing annoying version of the game anymore though. If you have a better time thats why they are adding them. The devs really do want you to enjoy the game, but since enjoyment is subjective, they have to have a "normal" version, aka their vision, and then a variety of options that help people that do not enjoy their vision still enjoy the game. The best games in this category have extensive options, it just took the devs awhile to add them. I have played both and can only give more kudos to the devs.

That being said............ I hate them too LOL. And the main reason is they dont drop a trophy! I want to decorate my meadows base with greyling heads on the perimeter and damn you devs I cant do that!! :+)
