1) You are correct the light level is suppressed even in daylight. I didn't know this till I modded the Mist OUT and discovered the lighting filter still in place. However see below.
2) best place I found to farm is on the edge of the Mistlands preferably where it overlaps with Black forest.
3) Again this I think may be your personal graphics settings have a play around and see if turning off Bloom etc lightens thing sup in general for you.
4) Rocks micro valleys and More Rocks is about it I am afraid. Hence heaps of Stamina needed, Also the Magic item you can craft later will help with those inevitable falls off the mountain edges.
5) An Atgeir or a Sledge hammer as a back up weapon is you Anti tick best friend. Dodge roll dislodges them but In my opinion better to whip out any hammer blast them all off with some damage
There plenty of the dungeons and Dwarf forts keep looking ;) The Dwarfs are worse than the Insects So to Kite things like your Tic spewing floatign Blimp to them and sit back seems ot be the default play style I fear.
Look for the bones of Giants and Mine them that Black Marble need a very good top tier Pick mind you. Also ancient Bridge sections can be mined for the stuff . Take out he bottom it all falls down eventually.
Overall I suggest you scout the edges of any mistland extensively as there is little to no Mist their in the Vanilla game. Often Mistland stuff overlaps (I have a sap farm of 4 roots almost entirely in the Black forest for example) that way you can see to get used to stuff before going in the deep Mist again.
Good luck!
2: I'm sorry, but: that's the way the developers want it to be.
3: I guess they play at least a slightly modded version. My recommendation: Mod the game with MistBeGone Mod. Or improve the range of your whisplight with DeezMistyBallz mod.
4: Yep, that's the whole area. It's no surprise that mistlands is by far the most hated biome.
5: Usually you are confronted with around 4-5 ticks. I never had 20 at once.
Unfortunately, Mistlands is exactly what you have encountered so far. If you already hate it, like most players, it won't change. I can only repeat myself: Mod it, for the sake of god, mod that damn mist into oblivon!
2. As far as seeing clearly, I strongly suggest you use the Wisplight AND Dvergr Circlet / aka green headlamp you get from the Trader, AND, you can use a Lantern that you find within the Mistlands, in place of a shield, while using a 1 hand weapon of your choice, or, just switch it off, when fighting, and not exploring.
3.
The Mistlands were not that bad to me, b/c I focused on building my Jump, Run, Skills, and enjoyed climbing hard to reach places within the Mountain Biome. With a little more time, you will be able to make the magic items, and 1 will help with the falling aspect.
4. You want to hide during the night, until you have gained many of the armor, and weapons , from the Mistlands area. Make a home on the edge of the Mistlands, and use portals to go back to it. Make more than 1 set. Neighboring Biome is good idea, but, sometimes you can find a safe area. I found several, plus, you can make safe zones using Raised Ground.
Black marble- carry the ingredients for a stonecutter with you and use it to salvage the assorted ruined towers, aquaducts etc around the place. Worst come to worst there is iron available locally- portal home and bring back a smelter and some fuel and make some iron on-site if you didnt bring a couple ingots with you. And if you arent carrying a portal with you- start now.
Ticks- use area weapons, preferably an iron sledge. No aiming needed, just smash the ground and let the blast kill the ticks or knock them off you.
Have you tried tweaking your monitor settings? Yes it is dark.
Bring the materials to make a stone bench and you can just deconstruct black marble ruins easily.
Yes, it's rocks all the way through. Embrace your inner mountain goat. You're less likely to get attacked if you're not on the ground anyway.
There are lots of places you can hide from the gjall if you need to, under rock overhangs, armor pieces, skeleton pieces. Run to one of those if you don't want to fight. It won't stop the ticks, but the gjall won't drop more if line of sight is broken.
There are places that don't have mist. You might be seeing some of those in the videos. You can find them on the map because they appear solid black instead of cloudy.
i use mods but not for the mistiness , you really need featherfall , but you need to find soft tissue to make eitr first and sap- the docks with dvergr have some - fight them get the stuff they have - use a longboat
the new weapons are useful but i use mods for weapons and armour - epic loot in particular has made the mist survivable for me
once you find a mine they are pretty easy if you just range attack everything - you might want the fire stick asap too
