When does this stop being addictive? Also playing at night = better sleep IRL for me

Glad I found this, needed a break from all the intense experiences I usually get. The soundtrack isn't that diverse (but good), the assets of the world are heavily reused/pasted (but still amazing art & lighting of course), the animations are clunky, running up hills and jumping over things is janky, the game-play is extremely simple compared to other survivals albeit grindy, there is no voice acting, deep story, quests, lore, etc and yet I can't stop playing since install.

Had several other games I was getting through along with other Steam sale titles but have not touched anything else since. I read when you need to start sailing to other lands to grind ore that is when a lot of people burn out but that still feels 100s of hours away for me...I think in conclusion Valheim should get a custom tag of "Therapeutic"

Wow what are you still doing after that many hours? Mostly building I assume? I hope in the final version there is also a PVP mode, I know there is friendly damage enabled already but I mean dedicated servers where you could just go to PVP either solo or group vs group. Maybe you get to loot 1 item per kill off the player and some coin/valuable I am not sure but could be fun and add another reason to keep going. Imagine PVP on the seas on rickety rafts or giant ships?

You could put that in the Suggestions forum, but I don't really see much of a point to it when the PvP options are quite limited. But whatever floats your boat.

[EDIT] Do keep in mind that the max players (unmodded) a server can have is 10.

Yes but they could develop them a bit, wouldn't have to be much, simple mechanics that allow for emergent gameplay. Either way for now I got a little pig farm (pig shack?) up and running :) (after already killing 1st boss, discovering Black Forest and taking down a few trolls)

you could always join an online server when you are satisfied u have "mastered" the rest... =)
any chance you play SPPD, as well?

How does online work? If I join a server and die there, do I lose all my gear in that world if I don't retrieve my gravestone? Same way can I bring things back to my world? What is SPPD? Only game I have played similar to this was Minecraft early on at release and never messed with it again but more recently Deep Rock Galactic.

Yes. You CAN make a backup of your character, if you wish, before joining a server. Some servers might want you to create a new character altogether.

Also yes, but it's generally (not always) frowned upon, because you are taking resources from someone else's world.

there are several larger public servers that arent locked behind passwords, but "whitelisting", you generally a little interview on discor.d or the such and go from there. it's best to get acquainted with the game intimately first, tho.

Well, you are stopping them. All (unmodded) servers require a password, and even the modded ones can whitelist some people (which blocks everyone else).

That's why some servers require "interviews" or some such on Discord, like bliznots mentioned above; to see if you're an immature 12-year old or not.
