Infested mines not spawning?
Hi all, played single player for a long time now. Gave it a little break before ML update and have recently updated to the ML now and got my way around it.

The mist-lands is pretty good, however, I was getting a bit frustrated with the limitations of the wisp light, so used the Valheim map generator website to show me locations of the infested mines to give me a little helping hand. The first two infested mines were fine, they were exactly where the map generator site pinned them - Dvergr ruins with staircases going down into the mines, so no problems there cleared these out and made enough to start getting some better weapons like Krom etc.

The next 5 'mines' I went to on the map generator, seem to be missing. There's no entrance to mines. EVERYTHING else checks out on this map, Petrified bone heads, Dvergr ruins etc...except these mines.

One of them was interesting, I was stood literally right above 'where' the mine should be, there was 5 seekers in the area, like they were guarding the mine, but absolutely no mine. The other locations I have searched high and low, I just can't seem to find the mines.

is there a bug in the game that it's not spawning the mines?

Keep in mind there are two types of mine entrances. One is in the basement of dvergr ruins, the other has a flight of steps up to it that can be very well-hidden to the casual observer, especially in the mist, as it's surrounded by a claw-like set of jagged peaks. (Apologies if you already new this.)

If your map was generated pre-mistlands release it can also have issues. I ended up creating a whole new world once mistlands released. But I went into creative mode and basically built a new base and all my stuff from the old world as I didn't have an interest in grinding out all the mats again. Then basically went straight to mistlands and continued my playthrough.

"Upgrade World" Mod is your friend here. (Use Mods at own risk not officially endorsed panic Panic Panic! #Irony)

So what you can do on Thunderstore or R2Modman or similar is get the Upgrade world Mod. Run the modded version and once in agem at your main base open the console and type "Upgrade mistlands_worldgen" then "Start"

Now what this will do it redistribute an old worlds (Pre mistlands) Biome distribution to something more in line with the Mistlands revision it will also refresh Mines and other mistland features.

BE WARNED

As you are changing the map significantly if you have a base or structure near th eMistlands then there is a chance it'll get effected by the change maybe even as my Pre Mistland "Built-in-anticipation-nearby" Mistland base was. All I have left are the front gates the rest is now under a newly formed mountain...

You only need to do this once and can then run the game unmodded but these changes will remain.

I have noticed some combinations of Mods can Bork Mistland spawns like mines as well. Again Uprgade world fixed all those issues in the above manner. So if heavily modding run that AFTER first world gen for good measure and before you do serious exploring.

Good Fortune to you!

change "can" to "will". map generation changed after the mistlands update, so if your map was made before then, it will be different from what you see on the current map viewer. some things may be in their previous position but others will not be. same goes for boss locations.

if your map was made after the update then it's either a pretty crazy glitch or you have actually missed all those doors. I'm pretty familiar with the map viewer and I have missed marked locations in the mist a couple times. they were there, it just took a closer look in the area to find them.

To add to all the above, you can also use the command "printseeds" in the console. (This works without devcommands and without admin privilege.) It will tell you if there are any nearby dungeons and how far (but not what direction).

thanks, PRINTSEEDS has worked well - the mines are not at all where they are shown on valheim-map site see.

Are the mines always spawned on the top of a hill or peak? Unlike outposts with dwarves which can also be on lower grounds.

if they were always spawned at the top of a peak then OP would have a much easier time finding them. the ones with the long staircase are found more often near the shore. the ones under Dvergr ruins are usually found more inland. at least this has been my experience.
