How does co-op work?

Are there lobby lists? Does any progress carry over between servers? Whats the best way to find people to play with?

Your character and servers are separate. Skills and inventory on the character are kept when moving between servers. Each server is its own separate world.

1. Yes. There are some public servers, and additionally more numerous private servers. You can use the "Join Game" function to find dedicated servers, or your friend can send you a code to play on their own world (usually hosted by their own computer).

2. Your (local) world and (local) characters are saved apart from one another. Progress is saved individually. You can log your character onto different worlds (either local or hosted by someone else) and you will retain all your skills/gear.

3. As far as finding people, that can be hit or miss. I've been fortunate that several of my IRL friends also play Valheim.

I probably won't do a good job of explaining it, but on my computer:

Steam -> Valheim -> Server -> assign password

My husband's computer next to me in spare bedroom:

Steam -> Valheim -> Join Server -> type in password

and voila! He's in my world.
