-proper scaffolding eliminates "fighting camera angles"
-eating literally anything prevents death from falling
-building even basic fence prevents mobs interrupting
-stocking up enough materials for what you want to build prevents running out mid-build.
I agree with this. IMO, Valheim has one of the best building systems.
There is a mod that let's you upload and download blueprints: https://www.valheimians.com/article/planbuild-how-to-install-and-basic-usage/
Note that mods sometimes cause the game to crash given that the game is still early-access.
Lastly, nobody forces you to play Valheim. If you don't like it or don't have fun that's fine. There's plenty of other options ...
First, you don't *need* to build fancy bases. Speedrunners finish this game without building more than 5 build parts. You could finish the game without problem by just building maybe 2 or 3 shacks, or even reuse some prebuilds.
Second, this game literally has one of the best building system out there. People recreate the Mine of Moria in this game. I'm pretty sure that's indicative of a solid building system.
And finally, if you don't like building maybe don't play crafting/base building games. What are you gonna do next? Buy FIFA and complain that you hate soccer?
Or play Project Zomboid, where no building of anything is needed.
Come to think of it, its really the only true survival game.
BUILD is one of the first words in the description of this game on the store page. could have seen that coming
this comment is beyond unfair, it's just false. Valheim's building system allows for a great level of creativity and depth, even in it's currently unfinished state. this is still true even if YOU can't be bothered.
it's called a fence. if you build one around your position, mobs can't get in. see how that works?
the right combination of mods will basically play the game FOR you. you can try to have fun this way but I suggest actually learning the game first
woe is me
I would like to have more of a The Long Dark feel to the game, where I can just take a house and use it as a base of operation for a while. I am not getting attacked in the house, nor I don't have to repair walls or build walls around the house to keep it safe. I can take over a abandoned structure in wild, however it requires work to be usable, which forces me to do some renovation or building.
Then maybe look for another game?
The process of creating your very own home (however simple -- however intricate) in the vast and hostile wilderness that is Valheim is a part of the game that many people including me enjoy. The world that you explore is an (almost) untouched natural beauty. Carving a space for yourself in this world -- a safe and hopefully comforting space that is -- is just so central. And rewarding.
Based on what you've written, Valheim might not be the game for you.
Alternatively, look for a group so that you can outsource building to other players ...
in Meadows there is a lot of farms, find one near water to be your base. in black forrest there is a lot of skeleton tower or mansions, maybe even the greydwarf tower could be one.
do not make bases on swamp. There are towers and castles in the mountains, and stone structures in the plains. you really do not need to build anything besides the workbenches and their upgrades. and only the workbenches needs roof
Spend more time doing what you like and less time doing what you don't.
Next update will help a little with this, new snapping point mechanics will be introduced.
Also world settings, like increased resources.
Give it a try after update.
