so 18 is the highest to get in the game atm or?

yes if you can get maypole and tree, otherwise 16

There is Halloween pumpkin lamp as well

Separate rugs no longer all boost Comfort, they changed that with Mistlands. So now all you need is a single deer rug to get the rug Comfort bonus—adding a wolf rug for example will not add on another level.

Last I checked that didn't add comfort though.

pretty sure none of the holiday items currently work and only work during the holiday season they are meant for. i know they did in the past but my christmas tree for example stopped working after their post christmas patch.

The nerf kinda of makes sense but they should have at least compensated for it. Having an end game rug (blue jute) give the same comfort as a deer rug doesn't fit well with me.

17 is max without the seasonal items but that gives you a rested bonus of 23 minutes. Day lasts 21 minutes (and night lasts 9) should be more than enough to keep your rested bonus if you return to base and sleep at night. (Best practice).

16 is the max level. 18 with Christmas tree and maypole.

The current[valheim.fandom.com] levels and holiday items will be dormant until a midsummer update enabling the maypole.

To be honest, I've kind of given up on comfort items; A few deerskin for a rug, enough wood for a lean-to for the workbench, bed, and chest... maybe a chair made from a few finewood "borrowed" from the boat materials (because don't leave your boat unattended), and you've got enough comfort for 12 minutes of rested, which is plenty for a commando-style dungeon raid, if you build it just outside the entrance (up an invincible tree, if in the swamp).

Don't forget to pick up rocks, sticks, and resin on your way from wherever you landed to the dungeon itself so you can make your campfire, and a few torches to keep critters away from the house while you're gone.

Maypole isn't technically seasonal unless you want to build one your self. You can find naturally occurring maypoles in the meadows outside the midsummer event and build a base at that location if you absolutely have to have a 17.

I usually stop around 15.. I mean honestly with portals who cares.. you plop one down and just go back takes 30 seconds and you have another 20 mins..
