Bonus: fishing levels from reeling, not catching. You can level by just max casting on dry land and reeling back in over and over. No fish is required.
Go to about skill level 50 using this method, then I'd recommend going into a new world you don't care about, and sailing to the far north and south to catch the fish in the unfinished biomes, bring these back to your old world and craft the fishing hat with the rest of the fish.
We catch the Northern Salmon and Magmafish in a virgin world so we don't mess up our real world with all our assets and bases on it.
That video actually talks about doing exactly that; the fastest way to level fishing is to... well... fish.
It also mentions that it doesn't matter what kind of fish you're catching, as far as "skill-up" is concerned; since low-level perch bite the fastest and are the easiest to reel in, stocking your "fish farm" with them makes perfect sense.
Yeah, my only point of contention is that it's not possible to "Quickly" level fishing, even with the optimal fish farm, you're gonna be fishing for a long ass time, lol.
