Only finding Meadows & Black Forest Biomes
Even after starting a new map 4 days ago...
In my new seed and my original pre-update world, I'm only finding 'Meadows' and 'Black Forest' Biomes.

On my original seed map, I hadn't searched too far though did cross an ocean in a raft and found a Draugr enemy village, but had a good base started in a castle location with some handy things near by for defending against the Giant blue trolls and forest moving attacks, My new seed is not as safe a location so I went searching the map...with a lot to discover, but it's still just Meadows and Black Forest... Is this a bug or have I got to do something?

The world is huge in Valheim and not every starting island has all of the biomes. You might have to build a karve and search for other islands.

I've crossed an ocean and been on about 4 islands i think, Are the other Biomes rare in comparison to Meadows & Black Forest?

No I don´t think they are more rare in comparison but they tend to appear more often the further away you sail from your home island.

The middle of the map is dominated by meadows and black forest with mountains sprinked in.

You have to move further if you want to find other biomes.

unusual not to have seen at least a swamp by now. But not impossible. Did you circle all the islands you visited entirely?
-> mountains are never on the shore of ocean. They don't even usually get close to rivers either, once in a while on that.
so you should see some plains (brown, large tall rocks size of a big city building) and some swamp (dead looking trees ) soon.

got a seed? We can steer you if you don't want to spoil it but need a little help.

I did, might just not have went far away enough...only done one island hop on my old seed and I found the Draugr there, which was cool...I'll try playing in both worlds and do a massive journey to see what happens...weird though.

On my current playthrough, the closest swamp to spawn is literally 3 days' travel, on foot. Note that the spawn point is the center of the map, and realize that Meadows and Black Forest are simply the most "hubward" (toward the center) biomes. The others are "rimward" (toward the edge).

Get to the ocean. Build a raft karve. Sail directly away from the spawn point to find the other biomes.

Edited to add: You might want to explore East/West, since North and South are supposed to be for the "Deep North" and "Ashlands" biomes, which are not yet in the game.

You should 100% follow the other advice in this thread first but be aware that some seeds can ♥♥♥♥ you over completely. Our first world as a group we spent days real world time trying to find enough swamp to mine iron. We eventually gave up and used the world checker and some console commands to try and find it, only to discover what swamp did exist was almost entirely under water. We recently restarted a new world server post mistlands and hit almost the exact same problem. ♥♥♥♥♥♥ luck on our part but we ended up just snagging a seed from reddit (without looking at it) that had several endorsements as being a good balance between exploring and resource availability

Check this one out. Great seed with most biomes and bosses plus trader on the starter island cluster.
