Why is mistlands gear IRON instead of black iron??
Why would you send me back basically 3 biomes to mine a depleting resource?
Why isn't black iron the main ingredient post Moder? Was a replenishable, farmable resource going to cut literally dozens of hours off of players play-times? Can't have that can we? No, send em back to the effing swamp?? why? i already have to farm the leeches, grinding at exploration / mining is waaaaay less fun or interesting than hunting Furlings. NO NO NO, you MUST find a new swamp with AT LEAST 10 crypts per player.

what. the. ♥♥♥♥.

You can mine iron from those ancient giant armors which you can find in mistlands as an alternative to swamps. As to why they chose iron over black metal, no clue.

Past the mountains the designers did a terrible job balancing the game. Crafting became a bit of non sense. In any case, the problem with black metal is that it is plentiful. Much more accessible than iron.

And this clashes with the game designers philosophy that everything needs to be as tedious as possible. Ergo, black metal has limited use cases and we still need to use something that was introduced 3 "levels" back.

The swords as well, and they are all over the Mistlands. I have had no problem maintaining a supply of iron. And it's less of a slog than the swamp.

Tbh I was glad about. I hate the green tint on blackmetal gear but I can understand the complain because from a progression point of view it was a weird choice from the devs.

Nailed it. I can run out into the plains at night and reliably come back with a stack of black metal, every night. That's not nearly punishing enough, you're supposed to hate yourself after farming materials.

I wouldn't mind if oozers had a bit greater odds of dropping scrap iron.

What level pickaxe is required to mine the ancient armor/swords, I have an Iron Pickaxe but it says it's too hard.

The bridge or aquaduct ruins have iron frames, you can break their marble with a stonecutter and pick away the lowest layer for complete collapse. And what you get is processed iron, no smelting required.

Just started a new seed and character and the plan was to rush to mistlands as fast as possible for iron. Of course I failed and couldn't resist building a base. It was just too convenient a place to tame wolves and boar at.
Because Black Metal is Goblin trash. Give me good strong Iron any day over the material of a lesser creature.

Due to the Valheim Woke Act of 2023 calling Goblins lesser creatures is hate speech, they prefer the term "Alternative-Hero"
