Does fire-resistance mead negate Root Armor weakness to fire?
I'm considering using root chest + 2 padded combo but also concern about Gjall.

I think so. Fire resist wine is a higher order of protection than root armor's order of weakness. If I remember correctly too, the equivalent level of resistant overrides the same level of weakness. so:

Weak to fire vs Resist to Fire: Resist Wins

Very Weak to Fire Vs Resist to Fire: Very Weak Wins

Very Weak to Fire vs Very Resistant to Fire: Very Resistant to fire wins

Immunity overrides everything.

Test in a campfire to be sure though, because if I'm wrong, it's an instantly fatal mistake.

I think resistances always override any weakness. There’s a little bit of sketchiness when it comes to immunity and resistances though (serpents are resistant to fire because they are always wet, but technically are immune to it when not wet)

According to the wiki, any level of resistance always overides weakness, so yes, that deficiency of the root harnesk is easily surmountable once you get access to barley wine.

Also regarding the serpents; they just have a flat immunity to fire, it's not related to them being wet, they just ignore it outright. Though they are weak to frost, so better to use that on them instead.

So I guess then you could totally just use the root harness and the Fenris head to be piercing and fire resistant with no mead required, lol.

Yeah, that would totally work, actually; I keep forgetting the set bonus of the fenris set is fists, +15, not the fire resist, so that's probably a pretty good general light armour balance if one insists on going light armour.

EDIT: so apparently the fists+15 AND the fire resist is for the full set only; boo.

Thank you for all the replies. Just a little correction for Fenrir, from what I tested, fire resistance only applied when full set. The set bonuses are Fire resist and +15 Fist, the chest piece has standalone frost resist tho.

You already established this, but just to sum things up:

Fenris set
Any piece: Increase speed +3%
Coat: Frost resistance (mountains tier armor)
Full set: +15 fists and fire resistance

And yeah, as was also mentioned, you can get fire resistance for free by getting wet. Can be useful against gjall.
