Trees respawning?
I googled this, and the results say "no" (and that there's mods that can change that), but with the game being EA, stuff changes, so I want to make sure the "no" answer is right.

I'm trying to clear areas of beach trees around my main base so I can plant trees that I like more (pines, birch and, oak now that I finally have gotten some acorns). But a couple of beach trees showed up where I thought I'd cleared already.
I could have missed some tiny samplings while clearing, hence why I'm asking to find out, for sure, if trees respawn or not.

It's better for gameplay purposes to limit tree spawning to the seeds available to players. That way tree growth is player-determined and there's actually some level of impact if you cut down woods; if you wish you had done otherwise, you'll have to remedy the situation yourself. I wish there was no need to use cultivator though.

Awesome, I totally agree it's better if they don't respawn. I just wanted to make sure that this is still the case. I very much would like to have the forested area around my base to be self-planted. I especially want oaks, because I like Oak trees, and yesterday I finally actually got some acorns!

if you are absolutely sure something reverted, you may need to verify that you didn't lose things in your home or chests etc as it could be that your world reverted. If that happens you may need to restore your backup to get stuff back. The key is being absolutely sure though... if you think maybe they were there before its hard to say anything useful.

its simply not needed to begin with.

Oh, not at all that. Just a handful of birch trees were mixed in with the trees I had planted in an area which I thought I cleared. There could have been tiny (not fully grown yet) birch trees that I missed.
Nothing else changed, and I've been actively building and decorating in my base every day, so a reversion would be pretty noticeable. I'm quite sure that it didn't happen.

Thank you all for your responses. I do not WANT trees to respawn without me planting them intentionally, to be clear. So I'm glad to find that the answer is still "no, they do not".

They don't respawn but you can replant them.

imagine they grew themselves like should happen irl... the game would be soo laggy...good choice devs!! all these people who didnt play for a (IRL) year rejoining and finding trees fully grown thoughout their old "Mayan jungle covered style" Bases

I would say it's more likely that you missed them OR accidentally planted them and forgot about it until you were back in the area. The saplings don't grow unless you plant them. All the trees are just cosmetic resources you can harvest.

Wasn't it the case the trees regrow if you don't remove the stumps? Not sure.

clearly no
only way to regrow trees is by putting saplings using the cultivator

I vaguely remember that from some time ago, probably confusing it with some other game.

You were thinking of Grounded. I believe. Your answer is definitely the one people give for this question in that game. (Having asked it there myself)

I remember now:laughing_yeti:. Trees regrow if you don't remove the stump in Green Hell.

the saplings you find and trees are static , they dont grow , stumps dont grow, the only things that grow or change from small to big are the ones you plant , stumps stay as stumps
