If you really, really want to decorate with Christmas gear still, using the nocost dev command still lets you build them (and all other holiday exclusive items)
They should've gone all-in and nuked those from saves after season is over.
I agree, if they are going to take them away they should remove them from current saves. I also agree that it is a weird mechanic to have seasonal items, and they should just all be available all year. But....... if they are going to take away the ability to build them they should remove the ones that are already built also.
If people complain that they were removed they can just add them again with dev commands if they want them so bad.
What, specific, reason makes people think they should remove already built ones? It makes zero sense.
Exactly the reasons they should not be removed from build menu.
Vikings did not have "Christmas", obviously, but they did decorate evergreen trees in winter, so the tree is fitting. As is the wreath, though they adopted that from the Romans. Much of what we consider "Christmas" today has it's origins in Viking culture and other than perhaps the presents to put under the tree all of the event items actually are appropriate.
billions of people celebrate it. 90% of those have no religious motivation, its just a fun season with foolishness, food, and loot for most.
If you don't like the tree, don't place one, or -- I stuffed mine under the floor for the bonus but will never see it again.
lots of games have seasonal silliness. People enjoy this stuff, and its harmless. I set off virtual fireworks/lightshows for dwali (sp?) too, and I am not hindu.
same with the maypole thingy. not worth limiting your base spot just for that 1 extra minute of the buff.
especially when you refresh the buff in any damn dungeon nearby for atleast 10 minutes with just a campfire. this is clearly people overreacting.
