If you can demostrate it, you may be able to highlight the bug (I do believe its a bad support calculation, round off or some edge case). But its hard to prove.
This is rare. I have only seen it twice, once above, and another later that I fixed with more supports. And I have built a LOT of stone.
note : wait atleast 2 minutes after placeing something for the colors to adjust for new pieces. otherwise they all show green at first. thier color slowly switches afterwards.
If you do want to create a "window frame" out of stone and are struggling with the upper hanging part, you'll need to build the pieces quickly before the independent stone pieces are evaluated by the weight stability system.
I could fix it and sleep in it all night, then go out and explore and it would be broken every time I returned. That one shack was the only building in all of my runs that did that. It wasn't stability and it wasn't from mobs attacking it.
That said, it's a very rare bug, so check the obvious things already mentioned first.
It's a bug, most likely has something to do with building on a chunk border, green pieces just break in certain spots. Have had it a few times now. 2 wall sconces breaking constantly and my harbor, my docks all had 1 piece breaking in the same spot. Every time it was cause it was build on a chunk border. Sconces could not be fixed, harbor for some reason needed 1 piece of extra support, even though it didn't do anything structural integrity wise.
have yet to have this occur on the marble fortress or the harbor on it. it all holds. and the roof is GIANT sized. and only has 4 pillars of marble holding it up in total yet. dvergr metal walls are AMAZEING in holding the chimneys up aswell and look fancy aswell allowing you to see the smoke go up and trough the roof.
i probaly wont finish the entire base before sons of the forest takes me away from valheim for the next half year but oh well.
maybe they have finally added a bigger boat then. which will probaly require me to redesign the harbor anyway...
The solution was install a wood-iron frame that anchored all the stone in two places. Like a single frame piece might look like this
S = Stone
W = Wood-iron
G = Ground
So no matter which way it's facing relative to me there's always one side anchored to the ground. I never had any problems after that.
Now I always think "How is this going to be supported if it's only half-loaded" and I haven't had any problems since either.
