Is the drinking horn and flagon just for role-play flavor?
I was disappointed to find that using the drinking horn requires you to first equip it, before you can drink...making it not a good option for quaffing meads while in combat.
Is it just there for roleplay flavor? Or am I missing something?

Yep, roleplay, or decoration if you put it on item stands.

Oh, nice, I didn't even think of putting it on a stand. Gonna do that with the one I certainly do not wish to carry around anymore. :)
Thanks!

I googled this question and the entire first page of results that I got were game guides telling me how to get one.... Useless google.

Mostly RP and decoration. And probably for the occasional challenge playthrough, knowing some people... :P

I haven't bothered with them, but, do they drink pots in turn? If so they could be a quick way to regen and buff without filling the quickbar with pots. Otherwise yeah they're useless.

Yeah, they do; that info did come up in the search I did and it did work that way when I used it; I just was not at all pleased with the delay to equip it while in battle. I tend to wait longer than I should to drink healing/stamina when fighting stuff that's tough, so that delay almost killed me.

Ah. I don't use pots in quick bar, but this could be useful for me. For me if I don't have time to stop and quaff then I'm going to die anyway so there's no point in wasting pots. Now I wish there was a food equiv.

Just rp, and it's a clever use of troll hides, rather than putting them all in the obliviator.

drinking horn drinks a random potion from you Invtry,, so not a good use of resources. but looks good next to a throne

It's not random; it drinks them in order, top to bottom, left to right and skipping any that are on cooldown.

Yah, I shelved mine too, even with it having a predictable order. That equip-time thing just doesn't make it feasible as something to carry around for use (imo). It's now sitting on a display stand on a table in my great hall.

FYI there is another one, kinda hard to find, for the decorators out there, added in ML.

I was truly disappointed I could not throw my flagons at enemies or friends, or the fire, or the wall, or the window, or even bash some greydwarves about the head and shoulders, especially since it seemed like they had weapon stats. I'm sure it'd be a pain to program for just a silly thing I'd do a few times, still I know there's at least crazy person out there who would want to kill every boss using only a flagon.
