Many people have a world where they do all their active playing (fighting mobs/bosses) and a second for resources and building so they don't have to be bothered by the bigger, more annoying raids.
Killing the boss only gives you the head, and the antlers. If you've mounted the head and selected the buff... and have the antler pick-ax or progressed to the bronze pick-axe, you can very well start another world and skip the first boss.
Actually killing the boss doesn't do anything to progress the game (other than trigger certain raids).
The only reason you might want to kill a boss again, is if you have a different boss buff selected, and want to change to a previous boss buff you don't have the head mounted.
I haven't bothered to kill a boss twice, but if they drop their trophy again, you can take that to a new world to mount and it doesn't count to activate that level of raids? Interesting.
you can use it as a regular trophy if you kill it twice ....looks good above the fireplace
I don't usually kill them again.
Correct! The boss kill mechanics of the game are definitely tied to the seed in which you originally kill them, so you won't ever get more than the very first angry pigs raid on a new seed if you take your trophies over. :) Reassuring if you're a builder.
