Report a translation problem
A secret ocean boss would be really cool, but how the fight would actually go, I have no idea. If its threatening to players, it would likely blow your ship up which would be the end of the fight, and its not like you can repair it or anything way out in the ocean.
Maybe you kill the boss over the course of the entire game, it just appears randomly in the ocean and you chip away at it before escaping. The boss never healing up.
There are three areas still to come. Ashlands, Deep North and ocean. these will all be big updates the next one is Ashlands. You are looking at 8-12 months or so for that update. Then another 8-12 months for each of those so.. 3 years or so.. it should be completed. Ocean will be in there somewhere.
i imagine they would add ship addons so you can repair a ship (for a price) on the fly (or sail rather) if they added in a big ocean boss that could thrash your ship up.
i would love to see oares (for passengers to speed up during bad winds), customizable sails and some sort of work station being added to ships.. like a workbench to repair the ship (possibly with a cooldown so you can't just cheese repair constantly) or at least a fish cleaning station that could, i dunno, increase fish quality over time or simply gut them for some quick food.
oh, and a mead/beer barrel would be neat as well, for RP reasons.
Finally the voice of reason, I would pay real money for this addon!

I have been thinking about this a lot. I believe that fight from the ship cannot be an option just because the boss would probably destroy it in one hit.
I would like to see a big shipwreck in the middle of the ocean as the boss spawner. Or some kind of ship graveyard… generally, my idea would be to have solid ground for boss fight. And the boss have to be either Kraken (huge squid like creature) or Jörmungandr (world serpent, one of Loki’s children).
Since vikings were great sailors/explorers, there are a lot ideas that could fit in this game for the ocean biome update. However, this is the most difficult biome to develop since it is available from the very beginning of the game and we also need to sail a lot during early game stages. Even developers said it’s the tough one to develop because of these reasons.
ocean ... I can't venture what they might do. I wouldn't hold my breath for underwater building but beyond that, who knows. Floating platform building, maybe. fishing redo. new enemy and such. moar boats? Brombadeg? Mermaids? Jaws? Won't know for a long while...
they could add the kraken as a regular high threat enemy of course.
underwater BASE BUILDING? thats not gonna happen dude. they would have to redesign the entire building and raid event concept for just that.
ocean wont be a full scale biome like the others. which makes perfect sense.
i hope we get a new ship already with mistlands upgrade patch. a ship with a ballista and a lantern on it. maybe even with 2 sails. its overdue to get a bigger boat as jaws has put it. something like an roman galleon would still fit nicely.
but adding some more monsters to the ocean is a given i think. but not an actual full scale boss fight. maybe a giant shark. or an angry leviathan.
and more rare fish types of course. its the ocean afterall.
but dont expect a full fledged biome. thats what ashlands and deep north are for. i also doubt ashlands will add another new building material like mistlands did with black marble. would be too early for new material already.
if they add another structure material for entire base builds it wont be until deep north comes and it would be the last one. no it wont be steel. that would be lame.
