Improve Roofing
Bit disappointed with our current selection of roofing given that thatch probably was not one of the first choices of scandinavian peoples in building homes. Shingles are cool in concept but their weird spiky design ruins roof edges and makes builds look weird. Tarred shingles would be much better if they were modeled as the standard sort of square shingles that you'll see all over the place in old buildings. In addition to this, sod roofing would be a very good addition given how common it is in viking constructions as well as due to it serving as a good early game alternative to a thatch roof.

Yea we needs lots of building pieces, wouldn't count on anything tho.

The devs favorite thing to do is restrict the player, wouldn't surprise me if they thought having too much roof selection would make the game "too easy".

You need to take one tiny moment to wiki Stave Churches. The team did a lovely job on the tarred roofs. This is a Viking game... There is another thread that has a vid of a famous Swedish circular defense for those that don't understand the history of walls and moats.
Thatch makes sense, tho indeed not as pretty as it might be - but two kinds of shingles wouldn't have made as good a choice, like not much choice at all. Maybe there is a mod for that, or make one.

I think its more that they dont want to convolute the build menu as much as possible. Less is more in a lot of cases, and that applies to having bloated UI's.

Ancient Bark should be a new buildable - Mossy Roofs in all angle variants. Change my mind.

That's actually a great idea.

Why defend everything about an unfinished game? Why not let us make it better by complaining? We're literally supposed to do that.

We're no way near bloated, so that's just straight lies. You made that up.

There's a few of you doing this to every complaint, what's the point with that? Don't want the game to change? You idolize the devs and think they can do no wrong. Like seriously why is there one of you for every complaint. Do they pay you? What gives? Just let us complain, maybe try it yourself.

I only hope one of the mods reads it to pass it on.

Sry, but i have to slightly necro this post, cause it should be a major priority considering this is a norse-themed game and should differ from other generic base builders.
This is what i am waiting to replay this game. Roofing + Ships and Sea. Only then the game will have a true identity as a unique viking game. Until then, it's just another minecraft clone.

Edit: It's also funny how this post was moved from "general discussions" to "suggestions and ideas", considering it's a request/complain and discussion about roofs in general.
