How do you heal wolf?

so I got my first wolf and they got damage by falling tree and I tried to give them raw meat but I only see +0 and instead they just give birth another wolf.

I haven't really made use of tame animals in this game, but AFAIK breeding them also consumes food... maybe that's messing with it? Try splitting them up and just feed the one you want to heal.

They heal over time, slowly. Really it's not worth having your pupper with you if you "care" about it. They die too quickly and heal too slow, really, they die to a troll.

give them a shield and they dont get hurt

just notice, yeah it heal extremely slow.
It's not that I care is just that I just got my 2 wolves to breed, so yeah don't want to waste more time taming them again.
