The Queen fight feels like ♥♥♥♥.
You know, I've been at this game a little while now. I've beaten it three times over the course of 400 hours, and for the most part, it's always felt like it had this definite formula. With the exception of Eikthyr who's piss-easy in order to root new players, the other bosses merely ask that you max out your gear, come with the best foods available and some healing/stamina meads, learn the bosses' patterns, and (if you're solo like I usually am) after 2 or 3 in-game days, you win. Every boss fight is attrition, but doable with the right preparation.

Not the Queen, though. ♥♥♥♥ that giant cockroach. Endless adds that you can't ignore, but she IMMEDIATELY replaces as soon as they die. Huge knockback that will still send you with a maxed-out darkmetal tower shield flying 10-15 feet. All of your gear is broken before you reach the halfway point. Disappearing to burrow through solid marble because we like pretending that combined with the fog that it creates tension rather than being the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that it is.

Maybe I don't WANT to sit in the alcove and throw hundreds of bombs. Maybe I don't WANT to build a hut right outside to repair all my ♥♥♥♥ multiple times. Maybe I don't WANT to sit on one of the interior ledges with several bows and hundreds of arrows. Maybe I just want to stand toe-to-toe, properly prepared, and smash that ♥♥♥♥♥ in her cricket face while blending in some ranged attacks during mead cooldowns, like all the other bosses.

♥♥♥♥ this fight. See you all in 2024 for the next update.

Used magic, it was still painful, don't get me wrong love this game, but glad that fight is behind me.

I have not killed the Queen yet but OP's post highlights a big problem with this game. The mechanics just does not mesh well. The difficulty in this game does not feel like its hard it feels like its not tuned correctly or not working properly. Iron Gate needs to figure out how to add elements of difficulty thats not just time sinks or overtuned mobs.

I love Valheim, 200+ hours played, but I've found all of the boss fights to be exceptionally bad. Health bars are waaaaaay to big. It's just a slog. Not fun or interesting.

I think you need to keep in mind that this is an early access game and not a complete release yet.
The Queen drops pink placeholder cubes as proof of this.
Just because she is a pain to deal with atm doesn't mean she will stay that way.

The mystlands equipment and upgrade tiers are not complete yet.... and the black metal sield is practically obsolete for the most strongest mobs of this biome.

For me the tower shield works very fine blocking seekers.

My problem with the Queen fight is that it takes away the possibility for the main reason I love this game: the ability to compensate inferior fighting skills with smarts. Every other boss fight gives you the possibility of preparation by building shelters and platforms and shaping the ground. With the Queen you can prepare by maxing out your stuff. Everything else is proficiency in fighting. For me that is like playing some console game of yesteryear . And I can't be bothered with those.
I do understand that other people enjoy a challenging fight and I don't want to take that away from them. I just can't understand why _I_ have to do things like they do. Yes, it is really enjoyable to watch people with superior skills sweating their Asinus off, but I absolutely do NOT enjoy it my self. It's like an MMA fight: it might be enjoyable to watch but I'd rather not get beaten in the head, repeatedly. That's for other people.
I read the official Valheim Discord channel for a while, but that place is so toxic that I have no intention to try to have a conversation there in a foreseeable future. For some reason a suggestion to have the option to fight the Queen like the other bosses met fierce opposition. Apparently some people feel that if there is an option to make a boss fight easier by building, they HAVE to use the option. And also they seem to feel that if they want to play a boss fight a certain way, everyone else also HAVE to play the same way.
Personally, if magick doesn't make the Queen fight relatively easy, I'm not gonna bother. I'll most likely just cheat because I _HATE_ boss fights in general, dearly. There is no prize at the end of boss fights if the fight itself is not the prize. I have nothing to prove, therefor nothing to gain.
You can compensate inferior fighting skull on the Queen fight - when you go to the top of a staircase, turn around, hug the wall and jump around the pillar thingy to a ledge - now you can happily just spam arrows at her until she dies.
Granted this will probably take 100 or so arrows (haven't bothered to try with the crossbow), but it is a safe spot. She *might* be able to spit poison at you but you should be absolutely fine if you drink a poison res potion. Through my testing you are too high above her to get hit with anything which is nice.

The seekers that spawn will be able to get to you though, as they can fly and access any location in the arena apart from the entrance.

Why is everyone so angry these days? Its a video game.
One of the reasons is because of the age we live in. Most people are stressed out. That stress has continued for FAR too long. That causes many of the problems we are seeing. To tell you the truth, I'm not even going to bother with Mistlands. I've very much enjoyed the game. But if its even worse than Plains, count me out. I spent way too much time getting the mats for my high end maxed out gear to risk losing it. Especially in an area that makes recovering it unlikely. If I wanted to play Dark Souls, I'd go play Dark Souls. Or one of its spin offs. I have neither the interest nor patience for those types of games. But I wish those interested all the best of luck.

The queen isn't tough, it's all the adds that spawn. So you spend your time fighting off the adds instead of damaging the queen. And of course all that distraction can get you killed. It's a cheap boss, in other words. Instead of a challenging fight with a boss, like in Dark Souls, you are fending off its minions. Or running around in circles up and down the stairs.
It's an annoying trend in boss fights in a lot of games. Time to fight the boss...and it's respawning army! At least in most boss fights that use this cheap trick, they'll spawn the adds in waves, and after you defeat them you can go back to attacking the boss. But not in Valheim. As soon as you kill the adds, a fresh batch immediately respawn.

Tbh using mistwalker did substantial damage to her solo, especially the odd time I was actually within range to parry.

My biggest problem fighting her solo was she spawns so many mobs that I spent half the fight with my atgeir out killing baby seekers so that i could actually get back in melee range. With a partner, my partner could clear spawns while i hit Queen, but solo the entire fight was just crowd control

Then my rested buff ended and it became even more of a chore. However, of my three viable weapons (mistwalker, himmen afl, jotun bane), only himmen afl dropped below 50% durability, and no I'm not using mods to get the locked t3/t4 variants.

I wouldn't even scale the Queen for solo, I'd reduce either the frequency or size of the mobs she spawns. I actually like the knockback, and i think the reason she has it is to kill players who didn't build a feather cape. That's also why she has a massive lair instead of being outside: Devs wanted a few specific mechanics to make the fight not just stand still and fight. Dodge-roll her attacks to avoid knockback. Bring two mistwalkers in case one breaks (or a blackmetal sword), and complain to the devs about how frequent mobs spawn against solo players.

Just pull her close to the entrance and cheese her from behind the wall with a hammer, lol.
