The Queen fight feels like ♥♥♥♥.
You know, I've been at this game a little while now. I've beaten it three times over the course of 400 hours, and for the most part, it's always felt like it had this definite formula. With the exception of Eikthyr who's piss-easy in order to root new players, the other bosses merely ask that you max out your gear, come with the best foods available and some healing/stamina meads, learn the bosses' patterns, and (if you're solo like I usually am) after 2 or 3 in-game days, you win. Every boss fight is attrition, but doable with the right preparation.

Not the Queen, though. ♥♥♥♥ that giant cockroach. Endless adds that you can't ignore, but she IMMEDIATELY replaces as soon as they die. Huge knockback that will still send you with a maxed-out darkmetal tower shield flying 10-15 feet. All of your gear is broken before you reach the halfway point. Disappearing to burrow through solid marble because we like pretending that combined with the fog that it creates tension rather than being the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that it is.

Maybe I don't WANT to sit in the alcove and throw hundreds of bombs. Maybe I don't WANT to build a hut right outside to repair all my ♥♥♥♥ multiple times. Maybe I don't WANT to sit on one of the interior ledges with several bows and hundreds of arrows. Maybe I just want to stand toe-to-toe, properly prepared, and smash that ♥♥♥♥♥ in her cricket face while blending in some ranged attacks during mead cooldowns, like all the other bosses.

♥♥♥♥ this fight. See you all in 2024 for the next update.

She more resembles a termite queen with an attitude.

Don't worry, after the additional content comes out for this biome and you can actually max out your gear, it'll be a lot easier.

I remember when in launch this game was marketed as a souls-skyrim hybrid with significant challenge in it. But the reality is that every boss pre-Plains is a walk in the park. Atleast now we have a worthy opponent to call it adventure.
It seems you probably don't like this biome thematically which is understandable, but it technically added some good challenge aside from grinding.

The fact you can just walk out and back and her HP doesnt regen is a bit of a letdown, really takes the difficulty out of the equation.

I fully agree with you. I spent 20+ minutes fighting the Queen and barely had her at 60% solo. I ended up cheesing her not because I could not win normally, but because I have better things to do with my time that run up, run down, run up, fly down, run up (repeat that in your mind for 3 hours to get the full effect of this boss fight). It has way too much HP for solo players.

Based on what? I maxed all the Mistlands gear. That sound like someone who hates the biome to you?

I will say though, as is indicative of many of the design elements of this game, Mistlands is very heavily padded. They just didn't do such a good job of disguising it this time.

Is there word on when that will happen? Genuinely curious, because for the longest time, the Plains gear was purposely gimped to maintain challenge from Two-star Fulings and such. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they left it as is until the next biome update.

The mystlands equipment and upgrade tiers are not complete yet.... and the black metal sield is practically obsolete for the most strongest mobs of this biome.

The queen boss is insanely buffed for solo or team players, but i think that this can be because the devs doesnt want that you defeat easily for now.

I'm fine with the game being hard. I have a problem maxing everything out and THEN the fight being asymmetrical ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ compared to the rest of the game.

Like I've said... Padding.

She's a joke in co op if you're packing good gear. Solo however is a different story and it is very obvious the fight is geared towards co op or magic spam. Melee is punished severely with the ridiculous amount of respawning minions and her knockback, not to mention she has way higher health solo than she should. I won but left the fight feeling empty, that i was fighting the games jank more than the Queen.

IMO the fight is just another indication of the severe need for quality of life and combat updates, which im starting to think won't happen.

So then, a solo fight without mods will either be very very long in time or nearly impossible at the moment. I am maxed equipment but prefer the swing of the sword over the 'boom' of magic. Which is better to solo the Queen - sword or staff. OR wait until more content?

Same, sometimes it's just more of a grind and process and not really difficulty in the true sense. I don't want to spend hours in a boss fight, for me after 30 minutes the reward is hitting diminishing returns and it's just work.
