Unpopular Opinion - I don't like the Mistlands Update
Here me out.... I LOVE the new craftable (black marble) for decorating and building and some of the new upgrades and what not, but there is something about the new zone I just don't like... I think its mostly the mist... I hate fog of war. Even crafting the mist light doesn't help THAT much... It seems like a beautiful update but it feels so wasted by constantly having fog of war..... It sucks.... I wish there was a way to completely remove the fog so I could enjoy the zone more. Initially I LOVED the idea but the more I have been in it, the more it has just become an annoyance rather than a 'fun' mechanic. Anyone else feel the same? Happy Holidays everyone! :)

I agree and disagree, I like the fog, but I'd like it if there would be like a wisplight upgrade to make the radius larger. I don't want to completely remove it as I like having a more dense biome that is just harder to explore than like the plains where it's more scarce (I still like the plains tho) and I like the mood the fog bring (and it's literally called mistland, if you remove the mist, it's just land)

I feel it just needs toned down. Should be to where you are squinting to see shadows in the mist, but not completely blind until it’s in your face. Literally.

im in the same boat like not being able to see is not fun. lik buff the wisp so they can have a better radius and that would fix ()% of the issues imo

I use the mist removal one and it works great. Nice to be able to see, and the mistlands actually looks good now.

Thank you for those links.

I think Mistlands was meant for co-op, it's a terrible solo experience. No matter how careful you are, you end up in impossible situations because of terrain/stamina/hit boxes/enemy range. I've had seekers fly from a cliff directly onto my boat. I've run into gjalls floating above the middle of the water on my boat. If I fall in the water, Seekers can chase me until I drown. I've run into a pack of seekers and then a couple more join so I retreat up a cliff. But one of them flies up and lands on my head. He can bite me but I can't swing at him. I've stumbled around a large Mistlands area and not found one mine or skeleton. They might be there but are obscured by fog. I end up roaming around randomly, hoping I find something good besides another dvergr tower. I't not fun, and I don't know how many of these lands I want to slog through just to get the clue to where the queen is. I have my demolisher and mistwalker sword and carapace spear and not really interested in anything else.

Mistland is supposed to be hard / foggy / difficult terrain / etc...
You just came from Plains which is basically a flat boring open space, now you get the quite opposite.
I hate the svamp, more than any biome, it's dark and wet and loads of water and annoying leeches and hard hitting mobs.... but.... it's something to play/grind through.

when the next biome comes, mistlands will be for you how svamp is now for me.
I like the diversity, that we have many biomes, some people love/hate different biomes.
=)

I understand, the more I am going through the biome the less I am liking the mist. The biome itself is gorgeous, though. 🙂 Increasing wisp radius would be great, have a good Christmas.

The truth is that I don't like it very much. It's very difficult to navigate, all this added to the poor visual range.
I also didn't like the arrival of magic, it feels very un-Viking like.
As a result, I just go there to grind for items and disappear.
For me it's the worst area so far.

A necromancer who doesn't like magic...interesting.

I haven't experienced mistlands yet, but i have a question whether the mist is just a static entity or dynamic - as in if it moves, or changes in opacity during the day ?

I feel like we need a craftable that clears the mist in a wide area similar to workbence radius or even greater. Maybe made out of the seal breakers so its limited and somewhat hard to make alot of them.

My own opinion...as someone whose biggest complaint about the game is visibility issues in normal fog/mist or even just nighttime when its clear and the moons out and its still too dark...the mistlands doesn't bother me nearly as much as i thought it would. I still absolutely loathe normal fog and its frequency should be reduced drastically. I think if they slightly increase the wisplights radius i'd be pretty happy with the design. I'd be ten times happier if the buildable wisp torches got rid of regular fog as well as mistlands mist.

I've actually grown to like the Mistlands but only because of the Dvergers. I found a spot with a single tower and dock sticking straight out of the sea, in the mouth of a river/inlet. Next to it as you go inland is an open wood walled mining dig (first I've seen). A little further on where the water ends is a two story tower where I built a dock of my own. This backs onto some very steep terrain with another two story tower half way up. I'm in the process of building a castle right to the top.

So now I have a dverger town! I should point out I've used debugmode to drop a load of whisp lights as I really do hate that mist. But hey, single player, my way :47_thumb_up:
