Some dvergr towers are dark, no yellow lanterns, and the side and tops of the towers have seekers. Usually means a set of steps inside leads down to an "infested mine".
The big sets of stairs usually lead up to a very very very distinctive shape of mountain. It sort of looks (at least to me) like a face with three huge stone spikes spreading out backwards, kind of like the headdress of an american indian chief. This entire mountain spawns as one object. Once I learned what to look for I could spot the three huge backwards slanting spikes from different angles... I run around the mountain, and there'd be the stairs lead up.
My problem here is the design of those POIs. In the other biome you are able to spot a POI (point of interest) from afar because it's completely different from the biome itself... Here in Mistlands, even without the fog, everything is almost the same thing as the biome... If you find an ancient sword/armor you won't know if you really find an ancient sword/armor or a skeleton until you get really close.
The same with the structures, in our first island we found a Dvergr pier and a Dvergr tower, both look alike too much, at the time we didn't know what it was and what does what, but now that I know I have to explore a tower to find the dungeon I see how a player can be confused... Now you include the fog to make everything even worst (I know, there are mods that remove the fog, but it's part of the mechanic, I don't want to ruin my first experience with mods that can change my game play that much)
Those are not much of a point of interest, more like resource node akin to copper veins or swamp guck, due to their abundance.
You can make wisp torches anywhere to light your way. I'm not sure if gjall can still attack them, seekers do not, so you could place them underneath or on the side of structures like giant remains, scrap armor, dvergr ruins, or glowing roots.
also pretty annoyed by their rarity and being hard to spot :c
Actually, they aren't hard to find when you learn the pattern. The closest Mistlands they won't be easily available, the further you go, easier will get. I went to Ashlands and found a Mistlands right close to it, I didn't walk 10m inside Mistlands and found the first dungeon... After cleaning it up, I found a second one less than 10m at the right side of the first one.
After that, instead of go inside the dungeon, I scouted around and found +2 in less than 30m radius around the second one. The best way to find them is to simply rush to Ashlands, find the nearest Mistlands and there you go, a lot of towers infested by seekers.
Similar with silver, instead of mining silver right after finding it, mine the ground around it so you can make the silver floating in its entirely, then mine one piece and have everything falling on the ground. You take more time to do, but you don't have enemies attacking you non-stop all the time. This works with frozen caves as well, it's easy to spot them once you learn how the cave looks like.
It's a pattern in this game.
