the stuff youve build should still be there
how about building some chests near the starting point
put the stuff for your new char into them
enter the old world with your new char
take what you need from the chests
now make a new world and use the the new char with the stuff you gave him
but beware - it might feel cheesy to start a new game that way
I know it may feel cheesy (that's why I started new character from scratch) but I'd I changed my mind and would rather speed up catching up and spend more time building new base rather than grinding thru content I've beat twice already.
as long as you have fun - everything is fine
last playthrough was ~70hours, majority of that is swinging pickaxe and chopping trees for gear that is useful for like 2 hours (as you 80% just dig or chop just to then do some fight for remaining 20% of the time). Only plains gets a bit better.
Also my old world got lost (when I launched it was from maybe 5 hours in) and besides - who's fault you can't continue from last save? I'd rather spend more time building fancy base than be grinding for gear that becomes obsolete as soon as you move to new biome.
There's a large group of "we like to waste our time" type people here... idk why but games like this attract them. Then they even have time to come here to tell people how they should do the same. It's weird.
I think they get some sense of illusory satisfaction from "earning" it the hard way and have to let everyone know how "good" they are because they're willing to spend more time sitting in a chair pushing buttons.
I think they're also afraid of the devs removing some of the grind and making the game too easy. Now that they found something to waste their time on they don't want to lose it.
If you mention anything that makes the game easier or less tedious you will get some kind of counter response from this group. They are quite seriously in love with the grind in this game and defend it vigorously.
Apparently there's a large group of "judgey" people too.
the old world got wiped - when I started after over a year break, the save was like from 5 hours in (all backups as well, dunno why) - so I deleted old world as it had absolutely nothing in that stage.
Maybe they don't play much else or how far more time for gaming. Me getting mostly 2-ish hours on workdays and bit more on weekends (if not busy irl) - I really see not much point in redoing gear grind at each biome tier, just because devs didn't design the world to update retroactively with new biome additions (for example by having good placeholder areas already generated into landmass which then could be swap-updated with real biome content).
do you have problems with reading or you're just too lazy to read?
WHEN I LOGGED INTO NEW WORLD WITH OLD CHARACTER IT WAS FRESH. WITHOUT ANY STRUCTURES OF CURRENT CHARACTER.
for whatever reason making yet another new world - worked. Why it didn't with active world - idk and that's why asked because it was not working as expected.
NEXT TIME BOTHER TO READ BEFORE TALKING BS
problem is solved
sorry it was to painful to read your sentences are hard to read because you use words that are just plain confusing
"WHEN I LOGGED INTO NEW WORLD WITH OLD CHARACTER IT WAS FRESH. WITHOUT ANY STRUCTURES OF CURRENT CHARACTER."
that is bad English and frankly it really does not make sense. Your title was "how to get old gear to new player" i told you and ill tell you again! put gear in box log in with new chr GET gear from box.
