Trying to remember that did you have to be high enough to find golems also, not only first wolves at the base of the biome and then drakes higher up, where there is a chance to find egg? And where are my onions?!?
Onions are in chest of ruined log cabins.
You need to be high up to find silver. At least to the level where obsidian, spawns. Buy from my understanding eggs spawn at the same level too.
It takes 4 silver, 6 wolf pelts, AND a wolf trophy (which may be the hardest thing to come by) to craft a wolf fur cape (and a level 2 workbench). You'll still need frost meads to recover your gear if you die in the mountains.
For your specific situation. If you have an iron buckler you can block a wolf effectively. Wolves are fast, you can't out run them but they can't climb so you can get to a high point that they can't reach and use a bow. Wolves also attack fast. You need to block, swing once, and be prepared to block again, repeat until the wolf is dead.
Some times a mob will despawn after 3 game days. You can try that and if the wolf is still there after 3 days then try the long distance run and collect a few following graylings/graydwarves to distract the wolf while you head straight for your corpse.
Or you could get a friend that plays to come give you a rescue.
To solve the low stamina issue, take your pick along and when your stamina bar is at half hit the mountain with your pick to make a flat spot you can rest on.
Don't think about silver, think about onion seeds. Get them, go home and start growing them, lots of them. You now should have onions, turnips and carrots. Plus deer meat, draugr guts, blueberries and thistles and piggie meat. If you don't have your foods upgraded you will suffer at every level. Cauldron to level2. Your abilities are directly related to your health and without adequate stam you can't fight or use your abilities. Just use cold potions till you get your cape. Not the end of the world.
TLDR--Become a Valheim prepper. You will be punished severely for not being as well prepared as you can be at all times.
Travel safe.
I'm sure recovery will happen
Many meads have been brewed but i dare not challenge a blizzard, better to tend to gardening
