Any plans on adding ladders and trapdoors?
They both would be great to take advantage of confined spaces, can't believe there aren't ladders

there's the 45 degree one and that's it, there was a stream with one of the artists a few weeks back and he seemed to think it unlikely any time soon due to the complexities of that form of movement

At least they changed the movement on the existing "ladder" at some point, it's actually somewhat tolerable now, even if the low angle is what it is.

Well, I mean, that exists but I never use it unless I intend to risk my life while trying to climb
Those stairs are more menacing than loxes

You can make them slightly better by adding a 45 beam banister, I must confess though it's usually the tops and bottoms I have the most issue with myself, they play oddly with the core wood beam snap points

"complexities of that form of movement", wow the excuses devs come up with these days.... They could use mocap data you probably could get for free off the net. Spend 20 minutes or even less to add the code. It may take an hour or 2 to make and add the models, hook the code, integrate the mocap data. Oh but that would cost the money; can't have that.

...why frick use "mocap data" when you can just have ready-to-use animations everywhere?
What they're saying makes perfect sense but even if their movement system could easily accomodate that functionality, there is no way in hell that will take 20 minutes, the only way you could assume that is if you have no clue what programming actually is

I don't blame them at all for not doing it right now, I just wanted to know if there were any hints that they're planning on adding it down the line

Even if it could be done easily, it's probably not a priority over lots of other work involved with pumping out new content, and could require extensive testing to implement. It would be horrible to get stuck in ladder or climbing position during an event for example.

Pressing spacebar is a good alternative to ladders. I wouldn't mind some trap doors though (literally just a horizontally opening door lmao).

Well, yep, on the video LastChime shared he mentioned it's not a priority at all and exactly that, a few nightmarish glitches off the top of his mind that would need tons of testing,

Same on the trapdoor tho

LMAO climbing a ladder is "complex" movement? They sold like 400 million copies of this game I think they have enough money to get someone who can figure this technological miracle out..

Divide that by 20 and you'll get closer to actual amount of game owners on Steam. Would be hilarious if a game really sold almost half a billion though.

Also, money doesn't solve everything.

No, just no
  • Money doesn't solve everything, especially when programming
  • Planning on business expansions is hard and it's clearly not their current focus
  • The guy who wrote the code just told you that the feature is complex, are you familiar with the code to make those ridiculous statements?
  • It's not about it being impossible or hard, it's about it taking time, therefore resources that can be spent someplace else

Also, considering you suggest this is so easy, you should make a mod for this, it's really easy after all, right?

Been begging for vertical ladders since day 1
If its an issue with animations, just have us pop up to the top when its clicked.
