Boar Question
So quick question to the people with brains. If I sleep through the night while taming a boar, when I wake in the morning will the boar make a big leap in the taming progress like forges make a big leap in smelting when you sleep? Thanks all

"The people with brains"?

I know the answer but I'm not sure if I have a brain that meets your expectations. Who starts out questions like that? Was it so hard to just type out your question without making yourself look like a jerk?

The implication in saying "to the people with brains" is that OP doesn't have a big brain. It was a request from a position of humility, not a dig at your intelligence.

Oh, my bad interpreting it that way. I guess I'm missing the point of insulting either others or yourself rather than just asking the question. Either is completely unnecessary. Now I'm kinda sad that the OP thinks he's not smart enough for this.

Once loaded with coal and ore, a smelter begins producing metal ingots. Visual and audio cues indicate smelting is in progress. If a player loads a smelter with ten ore, the percentage of progress can be roughly estimated by the number of bars ejected from the smelter.

According to the Valheim wiki, taming an animal progresses every 3 seconds provided: (1) the animal is not hungry; (2) the animal is not alerted (no red exclamation point above the animal): and (3) a player is within 64 meters of the animal. The animal gives off yellow hearts while taming is in progress. Total taming requires 30 real time minutes or one full game day. According to the wiki, hovering the cursor over an animal being tamed will show the progress of taming in terms of percentage (0 to 100). The wiki advises players to exercise care in checking because the range at which a player can do so is not very much greater that the range at which the animal will become alerted, stopping the taming process.

It has been a long time since I bothered taming anything so I cannot give you a definitive answer. I would suggest that you try the hover check on an animal being tamed, proceed immediately to your bed and sleep (if it is within 64 meters of the animal), and then immediately return to do another hover check on the animal to see how much taming progress was made.

I would recommend a boar pen with solid walls and covered completely by no-spawn radii to prevent enemies from alerting the boar.

I would be surprised if significant taming progress did not occur provided a player's bed was within 64 meters of the boar.
My bed is less than 64 tiles from my boar and wolf pen. When I slept no taming progress was made.

clear answer "No"

to quote from the linked site

"Sleeping doesn't make taming faster but will waste the food."

As one can see, the original question was "will the boar make a big leap in the taming progress like forges make a big leap in smelting when you sleep?"

Of course forges (or rather smelters) do not make a big leap in smelting while a viking sleeps. They just keep chugging along at a normal rate. A viking may perceive this as a big leap because he or she was not conscious while it happened.

The original question is basically, "Does animal taming occur while a viking sleeps just as ore smelting occurs while a viking sleeps?"

The quote from the wiki above clearly states that taming is not faster while a viking sleeps. It does not say that taming does not occur while a viking sleeps.

As I said in my first post to this thread, I cannot give a definitive answer to the question because I don't bother with training very much. A definitive answer would require 1) an attempt to tame an animal while a viking sleeps, and 2) a precise measurement of the level of taming in the animal just before going to sleep and just after waking up.
