Still Questing for the 2 star boar

Had a previous post on pig farming etc. Some good info. I am still searching for a 2 star pig. Nothing. Has anyone ever cleared an area and seen a 2 star pig there later or do you think it is an initial one time spawn like rock golems at houses in the mountains. I have been actively searching for a 2 star on distant meadows and killing every pig that isn't to encourage a spawn and still nothing. On a new world I found multiple fairly close to center. Tamed one on first day. I asked about could star rating progress as the pig survived longer but people said doesn't work that way. The last place I found a 2 star was a runestone that I had gone by but didn't come back to for some time. No idea if I wiped the pigs or not.
Also playing with moving pigs by boat. Oddly first time I tried on a no star made it quite far and all the way to base boat and land. Tried a 1 star and each time it fails. Pig seems to get caught by the waves and splat. Once within a stones throw of land. Maybe just luck.

Runestones as far as I know are your best bet, every 2 star I found was early in the game by runestone and as soon as I see one I make him attack me and follow me to base and I build a hut for him, chopping trees can be difficult if you have no wood but just let him come to attack and back away and after he attacks he will run away for a moment so you can manage getting some wood.

Further away from main starter island you get more 2*'s. I cleared my area of all animals a few times around my base (im a fair way from start) and I finally found two a distance from base. Runestones only respawn the once as as far as I know. Make sure you clear area of animals too as there is a limit for an area. at least thats what I read

From my experience I have only seen them off of the starting island.

Can only say anecdotally, personal experience only. Around ~10 restarts of game and hence ~10 boar farm setting up and my exp has been -

1- always boar spawn right near new char start loc but never 2 star there, so ignore 1st close spawn imo

2 - seems complete RNG whether 2 stars spawn further away or next island, but plenty of times had 2 star spawn on same 'starter' landmass my new char landed on so imo don't believe suggestions must leave starter island

3 - 2 star spawn is definitely RNG but in my exp, either a site can spawn 1-2 stars or just doesn't. So here is my ABC rule of getting my 2 star (all you need is 1 since breeding normal boar gets 50-50 chance of 2 star piglet)

a) if boar spawn area has only no star boars when you discover it, imo just ignore that site bc I've never had 2 star pop after clearing out those first boar over and over

b) if boar spawn area has 1 star boar then it is possible but no guarantee 2 star will RNG spawn. But good to try, and this is method I use to easily contain any that spawn
b1 - kill the first 1 star and other boar, while waiting for respawn timer, build a pen and catch tunnel (where you lead boar into the pen
b2 - build a workbench right there - this forces no boars to spawn while you are away, but game keeps the respawn timer ticking away
b3 - come back when you think timer is up, boars won't be spawned yet or mistakenly killed, run off etc b/c workbench forces no spawn
b4 - destroy the workbench and if timer on respawn is up, boars will insta spawn at the spawn location. Either 2 star will be there and you catch it, or not - and you easily kill all the boars that just popped

c) run around main starter landmass in meadows looking for more boar spawn areas with at least one 1-star there, and repeat workbench traps above. I just run around to my 3-4 workbench traps whenever feel like checking, and quickly spawn 3-4 sets and see if I get a 2 star

Note - there have been a few game restarts where literally no 2 star boars would spawn on my starter landmass. But mostly, I'd say 70-30, maybe 2of3, I've been able to get a 2 star eventually long as I am checking only locs that had at least a 1-star able to spawn

Repeat - all this is anecdotal. In grand scheme of things, 10 new game restarts is not exactly large sample size to make actual math decisions on. That said, works for me mostly.

seed can affect difficulty(aka stars) from what I have read around. some world probably dont have 2 star boars or is extremely rare.

From what I have seen (and read) there is only a 1% chance that a starred boar will spawn at any spawn point so its going to take quite a bit of time to get a 2 star to spawn.. Each boar stone has up to 8 spawn points but all but one of them spawn a single time. Other spawn points require a 3 day cool down before they will spawn a boar again.

1 and 2 Star boars will not spawn within 500 meters of the standing stones where you display your forsaken trophies. On my main save I have only found 4, 2 star boars total in over 1500 game days and none of them were on an island I had a base set up on. When I found the most recent one I backed away from it and built a quick taming pen before approaching it, lured it to the pen, and built a small farm base with a portal at the pen while the boar tamed.

I lured a no star boar to the pen and tamed it after that and culled down all the no star boars once I had several 2 stars in the pen.

My wife and I are going to try to build cause ways (earthen and wooden) to bridge small gaps between islands and places that we have to sail across we will build a holding pen. Then we will use an abyssal harpoon to move one of the boars. We will wait at the port for a storm. When the storm has passed we will immediately sail it across the gap and continue (so that we won't get caught in an unexpected storm). We have 6 islands to span so this is going to take quite a bit of time. If it doesn't work, I'll just expand the boar farm into a proper base and use it as a portal hub/farming base and breed 2 stars there.

So by the time I was sailing to find the Mountains I finally found one, but they insisted on running back to the nearby stone so they got out of the pen and I gave up. When I got back to my base near the boss shrines, there was finally one outside.

My conclusion, random low spawn chance @ any boar spawn location.

This has been my experience. I've cleared boars and found a number of 1 star.

Might work out as a 1% I've killed a lot of boars to try and get a 2 star spawn. Still not sure they spawn except the first time you find the runestone. I have about 6 I keep cleaning for a spawn.
Advice on water and pigs and ships. Get real close to the pig when you harpoon it for the trip. You want calm waters. Pigs get caught on waves and splat. The Karve? is better than the longboat, and the raft may be better than the Karve. I haven't tried sailing at slower speeds. Stay out far enough you don't see critters or it will jump off and die.

I haven't found any of the 2 stars that I found near a boar stone. 3 were near abandoned farms and one was in the wild.
