Having a problem with taming boars
Hey! New player here, Ive recently discovered I can tame boars! Though Ive been having a issue

No matter what I do, they always seem to be stuck in being frightened...
I got two into a pen and they were OK at first, ones at 25% tame and the other 80% tame but now they refuse to do anything but just run back and forward in the pen

I give them food, i leave them alone, they're protected and everything, nothing is bothering them yet all they can do is race each other and forever be scared

so you need to stay close enough and yet not have them frightened.. to achieve this crouch and walk away from them when they lose the exclamation mark above them if there is food (berries) on ground they will walk and eat it (hopefully) and little hearts will float from them they are taming . you could stay in area cooking etc but might like to watch in case a fire or something aggro's them or a mob... a musical tone and msg will play when one is tamed... try sneaking up on one of your two and see if you get option to pat or rename.... otherwise it says the usual XX%taming I rename asap so i know which is whic when they tame at different times.

edit make sure theres no greyling Gdwarf standing nearby quietly this will aggro them

Boars are afraid of any light source except sunlight. That's one of the reasons they won't eat yellow mushrooms and thistles.

In the Boars' "wild state", they are afraid of fire, but once they are tamed, your torches, fires, etc won't scare them anymore, and all the new piglets are born tamed so once you have the original adults tamed, you can definitely add lights back in, and not cause issues.

It would help new players to learn if panicking creatures showed an icon of the thing that panicked them. Tame boars losing their fear makes this mechanic particularly difficult to guess.

This.

Only wild boars are scared of fire. They will be fine with campfires & torches once tamed.

Another thing, keep an ear out for high pitched squealing all of a sudden, if the piggys (the baby boars) are running around like crazy, there is another mob around somewhere, and they are usually the first to detect them as they get close.
