Ymir flesh not for sale?

I was going to craft the iron sledge and I went to go get some ymir flesh from the merchant. However it wasn't in his inventory. Did they relocate where you get it from?

yeah you need to beat bonemass before you can get the flesh sadly

yeah, weird change. It makes the iron sledge kind of a pointless weapon. By the time you can get it there is no reason to use it.

I wouldn't say that, it's still quite useful for further crypt diving, up in the mountains, on the plains--that AOE knockback is righteous. When I get Hunted I like to whip out the hammer, click the Bonemass special power and go to town. Usually have a nice bbq afterwards.

they probably need to revert this. I understand the idea, but its really not needed. The material is already hard capped by the metal you need to access it. Iron Sledge is an iron tier weapon and needing to beat bonemass to access an iron tier weapon is counter-intuitive.
Same with the Frostner. You should be awarded with Frostner if you take the time to go into the mountains and get silver so you can use frostner on bonemass. I enjoyed doing that as a counter to the typical gameplay you do.

When they get the game all patched up, someone will make a mod undoing this silly change. Still understand that this is a test bed. So if you are a dev reading this. Consider using the boss stuff to lock progress with certain access to the metals needed to craft; and not the trader as the trader items can be used by clever players to help with bosses.

Yeah, this kinda makes the iron sledge useless to me. The main reason I would even use it was it was nice to have for soloing the bonemass. They at least need to make it so it becomes available after beating the Elder.

I read the FAQ for the test branch, and all feed back should be posted there or on discord and mabye twitter. So yea, i do agree it kind a beats the point for the iron slegde tho.

Iron Sledge shines in Bonemass as a tool to eliminate the Skeletons and Blobs that are spawned.

If you can't buy Ymir Flesh to craft an Iron Sledge before Bonemass, then it needs to be removed from the crafting recipe.

Iron sledge shines even in plains because have full blunt damage until that tier because have the same damage as iron mace ( that you will train well in swamps and mountains )
Works greats for wolf packs , wolf hunts , clear mointain caves and crypts post bonemass , and in plains groups with bonemass power

Root Armor mask makes things a tiny bit easier in swamp when it comes to not needing potions and the chest piece is super useful in the plains due to pierce resistance.

Iron Sledge isn't a requirement for beating Swamp and usually even after killing Bonemass you'll be visiting other swamps for iron when it comes to building / plains items.

I'm not saying it's not doable, but the sledge does help a lot in that fight. I might use it sometimes for things beyond that, but I usually rely more on the iron mace.
