Mistlands Biome Generation
So in our world we had not explored even 20 percent of the world. We completed all previous biomes but that vast majority of the map was pristine and unexplored. We sailed far to the east to find the mistlands and all we found was a stretch of huge rocks jutting from the water where it is basically impossible to play. You simply can't fight in the water, there's no way to run because water is in every direction. However if you generate a new world, the regions of Mistlands is completely land! So something is clearly wrong with the land generation in existing worlds. That being said, I simply don't want to have to wipe my existing world, all my forts all my portals just to play the new content. They simply have to fix that.

Ok, I tested this myself because I couldn't find any information elsewhere on this but it APPEARS THAT:

If you're using an OLD world and heading out to find mistlands in unexplored area, which is what the devs said to do; YOU WILL get Mistlands, but with the caveat that the Mistlands you -DO- get are very broken, small islands, hard to navigate and pretty much unplayable.

I generated the same seed after the mistlands patch and the mistlands I went to were completely different, actual land masses and navigatable terrain. It seems like currently you need to generate a NEW seed to play this biome.

tldr: yes, you'll get it in old seeds in unexplored biomes, but it'll be broken and hard to play. You need to generate a new seed to get the intended experience.

I wouldn't necessarily say broken, as you can still find a few larg-ish islands to do it on, but yeah generally speaking its very awkward, and you kinda have to make a new world, which sucks. Wish they could just add more land to the map or something....

there is a mod to generate the lands back. I used it for the mountians, and i just used it on the mist lands.

As i'm still working on The Elder, Guess, I'll take a break and start a new world later.

Isn't mistlands just in public test at the moment. Should probably post in different forum

I put off playing Valheim until the new update because I didn't want to start a new game for it. I have been wanting to play to so it is cool but I have a feeling I will have to start over again when it goes to main branch for whatever reasons.

Ok so I tested several new seeded worlds. It's not a bug with old seeds it's just a very mixed bag with Mistlands. There are chunks with mostly land areas and there are areas with rock pillars jutting straight up from the ocean. If it were me I'd raise the land level 20 or 30 feet and back off a bit on the water but there are areas that are playable without swimming constatly. As long as you didn't explore the mistlands areas on your old original seed it seems you are fine. The land is as intended.

Ive had a mixed experience, Some worlds old and new its just islands, some is solid landmass. But even on the landmasses its sometimes just Jutting rocks everywhere X_X So hard to get around

I have found mistlands biome with a large branch that glows. The areas is covered in dense fog and you cannot see. Idk if the thick fog is from the mistlands biome or the glowing root, branch.

There is where you get iggdrasil resources
And it called MISTlands for that reason you say my man ...
You most use the boss item from yagluth to see better in the fog

Yeah, the mist is how it's supposed to work. You need wisplights from the Yagluth drop.
