1. Gather resources again and put enough gear together to go and get your stuff back.
2. Use devcommands and spawn in the gear that you lost and go back later if you feel like it.
But without using devcommands or mods, you'll need to build back up, or get a friend to help you.
Without using any of the above cheese methods or asking for help you can sneak as close as possible and then build a portal so that if you die you don't have far to go. Then you can get the attention of all the stuff that is in your way and sprint away at a 90 degree angle to lead them away until they kill you again. Portal back and repeat until you have moved all the stuff guarding your path out of the way and once that is done portal back and sneak to your corpse.
It's not about placing a portal "near where you intend to die"... It's about keeping portal materials on your person whenever you go out exploring, especially if going to be a long distance from home, or crossing any ocean and Placing that portal (with suitable connection at base), FIRST, before exploring any new area...
It's not about reading the future, it's about being prepared for the inevitable future, where something is going to kill you. especially if exploring areas you are not meant to be in yet.
Well yeah, this should be common sense to any seasoned player of Valheim. It's often quite easy to build a portal where you have explored that is enough distance from your nearest outpost to justify putting one down, especially in a new area. Then name it something familiar and teleport back, place down another, link them, go explore. If you intend to get your body back I would use troll armor with sneak active, so all four pieces, eat a bunch of stamina food, (queens jam, honey, and a yellow shroom are good). Then activate the deer god power to boost stamina and sneak to your corpse.
The problem with the swamp is that you have just beat the Elder and are quite full of yourself. "That's right. That's right. I'm bad. Don't mess with me!" You step off your boat into the swamp for the first time and all the locals are throwing a party in your honor. After who knows how many millennia with nothing to do they are SO happy to see you! The Welcoming Committee says, "Here's your ass." and hands it to you.
Now you're all depressed. All your armor and weapons that you worked so hard for are in a far away place with hoards of nasties where retrieval in your whitey tightys seems impossible. The good news is that it isn't impossible, just very, very hard.
My advice is don't put yourself in that position. The time it takes for you to realize that you're in over your head, get back in your boat and get away is plenty of time for them to destroy your boat and kill you. Instead, enter the swamp on foot. If you have to sail there, land in an adjacent Meadows or Black Florist, where you can build a small base with a portal and/or bed and THEN go probe the swamp but don't go at night. Snipe as many of the critters as you can from the outskirts. Most will be hard to kill with the weapons you have and they pack a wallop to go with it. So if they start to gang up on you RUN! Get back to the safer biome. Walk all around the border to see any notable features inside. Many swamps border Plains and Mountains. These are places that are pure death to you at this point. Stay well away from them. Stray into the plains and you'll be dead before you know you're under attack. And don't forget to bring the Swamp Key.
Going back there if you are any level below wolf armor is a waste of your time. Consider it a cheap lesson. But do try to learn from it. Start using portals, be more aware, build yourself up, process through the biomes in order and probably do less sailing to far islands until you are better prepared.
I know, less exciting but also less fatal.
Using god mode to cheese is a sure way to ruin the game for yourself.
