Also, work with portals, when going to a new island, put down a portal, significantly drops the time on corpse runs. However how far are you in the game, what armor do you have, do you use a parry shield, what food are you using, that's important information.
Can the OP expand the question to define what "F2" means pleae.
Start Valheim. Press F2. A chat window opens in the upper left portion of the screen.
That is what chrsyt is complaining about. I do not know whether Valheim is the culprit or Steam. I do not know how to re-map that key via Valheim or Steam. I do know that I eventually stopped fat-fingering the keyboard during combat.
If I do survive, I don't know how I brought it up, so I don't know how to turn it off, so I have to exit the game and reload to get it to go away. I would love to be able to disable it, but if I can just hit F2, that's better than the alternative.
Mean while, while you're navigating the F2 screen (i've no idea what it's uses for) and reloading your deadly weapons, some evil monster has in the meantime had you for tea.(Again!)
In some games you can go steam and create a new controller map (thing!), but i think you can't do that with Valheim, and and even if you can, if you can disable or rather not enable the double stick press.
cheers for the replies :-)
naturally a good rule would be 'do not press both down at the same time!' but not easy where you're being eaten.
I suggest going to https://valheimbugs.featureupvote.com/ and add a new bug, as you are not the first person to report it on the forums. It may be a conflict between steam and Valheim when using a controller, or if you are playing on Xbox it could be an error in the way that has been integrated. Also check your steam controller support settings.
This has absolutely saved my bacon on a few occasions. I always kick myself when I leave without resetting my emergency portal with a new name. I usually leave the old connections laying around.
Umm... keyboard's don't have 'sticks'. Fairly certain he's referring to playing with a controller?
I know if you're playing with an XB1 controller on PC and press down on the right stick (R3 technically), the xbox chat keyboard comes up, and that's messed with me really bad several times... and it's not possible to rebind or disable it, even though it's not something I would ever use...
Really? I play with an XB1 controller and that's never happened to me. It just stows/retrieves my weapons, nothing else.
It might be the left stick. It's part of that same overlay that pops up when you hit the Xbox button in the middle of the controller. I haven't used my controller in a bit, issue kept interrupting things too much.
I think the root of the problem for me is that the run button in No Man's Sky is the crouch button in Valheim, which can definitly cause some panic situations where I just mash the sticks. If I mash both sticks at the same time I end up crouched with text filling the screen, probably about to get squished. :-)
With some games, or one anyway, i made a new controler layout for it, tho when you make a layout, there isn't one for pressing both keys.
must learn Not to die! dying is not good!
might be a way later i suppose, will just have to bear with it.
yes, me on PC controller and mouse for bits.
cheers guys for your input :-)
