100 hours? How are you searching? You can cover ALOT of ground/water in 100 hours.

I hope you're sailing around the Black Forests and not running through every inch. He will almost always show up from the coastline.

there is a certain distance he will spawn from your starter island. (not to close yet not to far) https://youtu.be/eRAOsutesNk this vid helped me find him after hours of looking for him

If you're really desperate you can use the online world generator to check his spawns.

Yep, that's RNG for you.

My first char, Dahlgren, almost stumbled over him, while sailing first time his then brand new Karve.

My second char, Torben, had to search far and wide, after he was already clad in full mountain gear until he finally found him way up halfway to the north.

Continental seed vs island seed...

I had a horrible seed for him on a permadeath no portals run. Checked the seed later, *all* the possible locations except one were *way* out past, well everything. The one that wasn't was in a tiny slice of Black Forest surrounded by Plains.

Yeah, died horribly.

I found him 3 times in a row in under 2 hours each search by just going up and down the black forests on the ring of islands outside of the starting island running on foot

You don't need to be very close or uncover the whole black forests, it appears on your map once you are close enough.

i found haldor on the edge of the world, literally the last island out if i remember right. just remember to check the map for the bag symbol

Depends on your seed. *shrug* My island seed made it horrible. The seed of my first character easy.
